4 to go!!!! Does everyone think Tony has this wrapped up?

I honestly thought until yesterday that Newman was going to make a good run at this thing but he finished 15th so Im not so sure now. Tony looks in control but we will have to wait and see.

Wrapped up? No way. But somebody is going to have to outrun him, and quick. It's Tony's to lose at this point, but stranger things have happened. He will be tough to beat, especially with the last race being on a track he has been very dominant at. I honestly thought (and hoped) that Martin would either be ahead of him or within 50 or so points by this time.

But nothing is wrapped up just yet.

Nothing wrapped up yet, IMHO.

Not even close to over yet. In four races almost anything can happen, at this point in even one race the picture can change radically.

It is close to over, there are 4 races left, not 27. Only three guys have a shot at it, and the third guy out has to dominate. Not much can change, the most change that we would possibly see is Tony dropping to second and Johnson taking the lead.

A lot can happen in 4 races. With little or no bad luck I would say Tony has it. BUT Like I said a lot can happen.

I think you have the words possible and probably mixed up. It is entirely possible for Tony Stewart to finish 43rd. See this year's Daytona 500 for proof. He had the best car all through Speed Weeks, then it went kaput on him.

While I fully agree that the ballyhooed fat lady is certainly warming up, she ain't on stage yet. Much less singing. We all speak with our hearts sometimes, and Paul is far from immune from that.

I think he's so anxious to see an open wheeler come in and take the fender boys at their own game, he can't stand the wait from Sunday to Sunday. :p

I will say this. I'd rather see Stewart get it than a rookie. ANY rookie. And Tony ain't too high up on my own personal list of favorites either. But better him than a rookie. IMO, a rookie winning the championship would be a major letdown.

A lot cannot happen with the points the way they are. 4th place guy is over 150 points out, that's a complete race's worth of points...not very easy to make up in 4 races.

Perhaps a lot can happen in any given four races, but not these four races. Sorry.

Drama is having a points race this close in the eleventh hour.My heart, and emotions are in for a true test in the next 4 weeks.I will be disapointed if Mark doesn't get a Winston cup trophy, but will be happy that someone else didn't run away with it.;)

For the top three the race is not over. Tony cant set back and coast. I agree in all likelyhood Tony will be the champ. But he is 81 points ahead of Johnson. One bad race in the next 4 and Johnson could take over the lead again. But again the same thing can happen to Johnson.

Right, either one guy or the other is gonna win. That's not a huge radical change to the points race.

JUst for giggles, let's say in the next race everyone in the top five finishes exactly as they did yesterday with one exception. Swap teh leader and the sixth place points runner in the finihsing order of the race.

The points race with three to go would look like this:

Jimmie Johnson****4331
Tony Stewart****4318****- 13
Mark Martin****4274****-57
Rusty Wallace****4232****-99
Ryan Newman****4209****-122

Yup, like I said first and second switched up.

Not a huge radical change.

Not a lot can happen, there are 2 people left to take it, at most 3.

It is almost over.

I predicted that someone would be eliminated from the points chase Sunday. Jeffie was eliminated. Finishes like that can happen to Tony as well. I wish I were as confident as Paul is. I'm betting that Tony isn't that confident either.

I'm not saying Tony is going to win.

I'm saying that with the points the way they are there will be no "huge radical changes" to the points. I haven't made that clear? No one past Martin has a shot at it.

Tony's chances are real good, as long as he doesn't get caught up in someone else's mess. I'd feel alot better if the qualifying picked up!

I agree with you Paul. Nobody past Martin has any real chance. When I said a lot can happen I ment in the top three. One or two bad days Stewart could be completely out of the hunt. Same goes for Johnsor and martin. I belive this one will go down to the wire.

I hope Stuart can pull it out. I just wouldn't like a rookie winning the championship.

I would love Stewart to win this one. But I would rather see Martin get it. How many more years will he be a contender. Stewart is still pretty young. Plus, if he finished 2nd, it might get him to stick around for another year.

Thats true, but i guess it all depends on who does a better job in these last four races.

I think Stewart will get it. Stewart is one of my favorite drivers but I think I'd rather see Martin get it because of the amount of driving days he has left and there getting smaller.
