Some inspection problems before qualifying: The Cup cars of #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr., #48-Jimmie Johnson and #17-Matt Kenseth were forced to go through the inspection line twice after NASCAR officials found minor violations on their cars. NASCAR officials said the problems were not serious, but the crews of the #88 Chevy, the #48 Chevy and the #17 Ford were told to correct the problems and go back through the line. All three cars were on the track for the first practice session.(ESPN.com)(3-1-2008)

So Hendrick and Roush cars fail inspection and no penalty?

Why am I not surprised?

That's ridiculous!!

If Nascar was consistent with their penalties that would me that Johnson, Junior, and Kenseth would each get 100 driver point penalty, 100 owner point penalty, and lose their crew chiefs for 6 weeks.

If Nascar penalized RG in that way at Daytona then why cant they penalize these guys in that same way? Is it because they are big names in the sport? Because its Hendrick and Roush teams? Why couldnt they let RG work on the car then allow him to pass like these guys?

Seems like some of us are getting a lot of exercise this morning jumping to conclusions before we even know what the deal is/was.

GEEZE !!!! The vigilantes are out with their ropes already. Before kicking the dung pile, why not wait until NASCAR formally announces what the "minor violations" are/were and penalties.
After all, I'm sure NASCAR has an empirical explanation. :D
Ah ......penalties. Do we know if any have been given ??
Aren't penalties generally handed down on Tuesdays ???

Thats the way I see it also...

So no 24?

This is good news..I guess no more sharing with the 48?

I think it's great because last year every Junior fan here would've freaked out; "DEM DAMN HENDRICK CARS ALWAYS UH A CHEETIN'!"

Now you're one of us. :)

And frankly, if the infractions were small enough for NASCAR to let teams come back through inspection, it's no biggie. I know all the Robbie fans are up in arms about the whole nose thing, but these infractions are probably like the rear end being too high, splitter too low, etc.

Absolutely correct. How can anyonr judge until we see what the infractions were.

The nose was an accident. Anything on the 48 isnt, with Chad working on it....

Why is it that only Dale Jr. and Jimmie Jonhson are taking the heat here? there was a third car that wasn't a HMS one..

Maybe because they are on the same team and it's easier to point out because they have had trouble in the past, Matt just don't pick on him lol:p

And like what was said we'll see on Tuesday

Now remember, before getting all your panties up in a bunch, we never hear about panalties until Tuesday.

There is not gonna be any penalties for this.

All I saw yesterday were minor things that could be fixed with sand paper and a little bondo.
Well said. Those type infractions happen all the time, john andretti's car had the same problem on the nose and had to be corrected before he could practice
