San Fran hired Dennis Erickson as their new coach. Really caught a lot of people by surprise....He was a good college coach at the University of Thugville (Miami--sorry Star!!), but really didn't have that good of a stint at Seattle.

But I really hope Mariucci turns Detroit around and the beat the snot out of the 49'ers.
 
It seems like a pretty good match to me. I can't stand the 49ers and Erickson never has impressed me since his Miami days.
 
He is, because teams are now required to interview at least two minority coaches.
 
What seems wierd though is that several minorities (like Dennis Green) have been turning down interviews because they don't want to be a token black interviewee. What are teams supposed to do in that case?
 
Bow to the whims of lawyers, nothing else they can do. Then just pay out a settlement.

True, but this is a rule that the owners agreed to in December!!! So I have no sympathy for them at all. Plus cmon, 3 minority coaches out of 32? The NFL should be ashamed of itself! Is this rule stupid? Yes, but doing nothing hasn't worked one bit.
