I'm hearing NASCAR will lay down it's toughest penalties yet against Hendrick Motorsports.

I've been talking with people inside Charlotte - and they're telling me the penalty will be $500,000, 500 points and 10 race suspension for the crew chiefs.

That may be true but I think I will wait till the official word comes down from Nascar. I think you are more or less WISHING and HOPING.

The same as you are wishing and hoping he's wrong. :D
I would be if it were Matt and the others that I pull for. :) ;)

I will be very surprised if that severe of a penalty is handed down. If it is HMS will appeal and I'd bet the money and points would be reduced by half which would be $250,000 and 250 points. Even that is a pretty tough and big penalty.

Andy may seem an idiot at times, but he can tend to stick his ears around corners...so it's a possibility, but unlikely once the friday sit out is considered.

i bet it is $100,000.00, 100 pionts and 6 races or less after all we are talking hendrick here, they have been busted many many times and have somehow come out smellin like a rose everytime

I can see 150/150k or 200/200k. If they hand out anything like that or higher, that should be an attention getter. If not, the next thing should be cannot race the next race or two.

Nothing that a team can bounce back from in a race is an attention getter. Gordon and Johnson's penalties better be harsh.

If they aren't, will you PLEASE quit watching Nascar??? All you seem to be able to do is gripe and complain about ANYTHING that HMS or their drivers do.

that's what a strictly harvick and harvick only fan will do.

Hey if Andy is a Happy Harvick fan I have a question for him. Why the heck wasn't Kevin up on JPM's but making him use more gas if wasn't worried about gas himself?????????:D

Explain, why should they be harsher than anyone else. It was a gray area that they exploited. Nothing to do with the actual fuel or engine.

Grey Area

Looked like they were trying to see how far they could go with NASCAR. I think with Chad K.'s past record, there will be some stiff penalities. How many times do they have to suspend him before he get's the point? I think his punishment will be a lot stiffer than Little E's due to past history.

I honestly believe the penalties will be severe. But, under the circumstances...........fair and equable.
I am a Jeff G. fan, but right is right and wrong is.........well; you know! LOL

As for Kevin being on JPM's "but" (how about butt), he was following orders to conserve gas because his cc believed JPM would run outta gas.
No conspiracy, nor favortism here.

ROTFL!!!!!!! Keerect!!!!! I plum left that tidbit out!! LOL

Just what a f'ing hms fan would say. Chad should have to sit out the rest of the season. How many times is he going to get away with cheating?

If it would be A Gibbs car you would be screaming the same thing. You either need to to open your mind or shut your mouth

And you need to get a grip on yourself. My mind is completely open and I WILL NOT shut my mouth. But, I can shut off your abilities to post here. I think I'd be a little more careful how you speak to people here.

And just HOW the heck do you know WHAT I would be thinking if it was ANY OTHER TEAM???? Are you a psychic or something???

You DO realize that you directed your comment at an ADMINISTRATOR, don't you?
I'd pipe down if I were you!

Y'all need to commend me on not coming on this thread to stir the pot. Man it's been tempting but there's enough "passionate" race fans here that I knew they wouldn't let me down going by how some have acted in the past.

ditto.

We're like the COT rulebook. Breach us admins, and we'll make sure it don't feel too good.

I tend to "gripe" about HMS once in a while myself:) but think that the rules regarding penalties are as unclear as any.

If past history matters, Knauss will get roasted and Letart wont.

If Nascar decides to make them up as they go, same as #8 team.

The number #5 crew chief may have some competition for the job of HMS shop floor sweeper.

I think the fines and points should increase each time a teams mess with the car. Leaving the fines the same each time does nothing...there will be a breaking point where the teams will give up. I hope this is the time.

And, let us remember one thing, no matter what NASCAR does --- they can't win. Fans are going to be angry.
If the penalty is harsh -- HMS fans will howl.
If the penalty is lighter --- other fans will howl (and, NO, I did not mean Junior nation exclusively)

That was my point. If a 150/150k, 250/250k, or 500/500k penalty doesn't get people's attention, then the next step is set the whole team down for a race or two. I know NASCAR doesn't want to go down that road. But if stiff penalties still do not work, they need to look at going to the next step instead of worrying about certain fans not showing up or watching because their guy isn't in the race.

Real fans will be at the race whether their driver's in it or not. That's what seperates us real fans from the Junyer Bandwagon Express. :beerbang:

Uh, sit them down a race or two. How many points do you think they get for winning. A 150 deduction is pretty much 1 race. 500 points is 2 -3 races.
Mark Martin has voluntarily sat out 4 races. He don't appear to be crying too hard.
