I once had a 55 Chevy. I'm still kicking myself for selling it. Love those cars. Wish I could afford that 57 that would be icing on the cake. Nice.

I always thought the 57 Fords were better looking.

The '57 ford wasn't a bad looking car. The '58 wasn't bad looking either. I owned a '55 Fairlane Club Sedan w/automatic and traded it for a '58 powder blue Custom 300 w/Interceptor Thunderbird engine and standard trans. I wanted to beat the guys in their '57 Chevys but it didn't happen. :D

1957 Skyliner was a hell of a car. They are bringing astronomical money these days...

That's because it costs a mint to replace all the solenoids and stuff it takes to raise and lower the top. My Father I'm Law used to build those. I think there 25-30 electrical components to work that roof.

You gotta love a '57 Chevy, even if it has become almost a cliche at this point. I love this song that is about one if you listen to the lyrics.

I was about 20 years old and myself and some friends went to the New York Auto Show when the retractable hardtop was introduced. There was a gorgeous blonde model pointing to the features of the car and as she motioned when the top was retracting, the audience watched in awe. I turned to a friend and said, just as the room went deathly quiet, " I wonder if the blonde goes down like the top." Talk about being embarrassed. It was
not one of the finer moments in my life.

I have a Pontiac G6 hardtop convertible that operates similar to the Ford Retractable. About 50 years difference in age so it's a lot more consolidated. But it still draws looks when I put the top up or down.
