the only race this year at "The Rock" and it still will not be a sellout. Talk about some sad fan support in that area. 60 some odd thousand grandstand seats and they will not be full.

It probably doesn't help that the Rock is right after Daytona. But still, I can see why Nascar scaled back the Rock to one race if you can't even fill a stand of 60,000. It's a real shame, but despite the great racing at the Rock, I doubt we'll see the Cuppers there much longer.

Give them one more year and move the race back 2-3 weeks. If it does not sell out then theyve gotta serious problem. I wonder what ticket prices are like there.

If i'm not impressed today, then I'd rather see Texas get Rockingham's date. That'll give Texas 2 dates on the schedule, and everyone will be happy. I thought the racing was rather crappy yesterday.

they might be forced to do that if ol' bruton gets his lawsuit won

They have around 70,000 seats and they never sell out. Can ya blame them? I'd rather go to a Saturday night late model than watch a Rockingham race sometimes.

I'd much rather watch a race at Rockingham than a race at Texas - or a lot of the other tracks on the schedule, for that matter.

Its really a shame. Rockingham owns Kansas, Texas, Vegas, Chicago, and all those other cookie cutters. Rockingham puts on one of the best races each year, along with Richmond. Road courses are great too. Im just really tired of seeing these drivers race on the same track (cookie cutters) in a different scenery.

I'm kinda agreeing with ya RobbyG.

However when one takes into consideration the fact that the location, demographics and available amenities for those that do come from out of town, it almost negates the great racing at The Rock. The Owners really do little to promote such a great track, favoring their newer "cookie cutters".

Oh Rockingham is by far better then most of the cookie cutters. I love it when you have to hustle the car around the track on worn out tires.

It IS NOT Bruton's lawsuit. It is one of the shareholders, Frances Ferko, that filed the lawsuit.

And, I will also tell you that the racing in person at TMS is MUCH better than what they show you on the television. The TV coverage doesn't do it any justice at all. Just ask the drivers! They have all come to like racing at Texas! ;)

I went to the race this weekend, and I went to both Rockingham races last year. This is the first race there I've been to that the weather was actually decent. Last year it was freezing, raining, or so windy you couldn't put your hot dog down without it blowing away. I think that most people stay away from Rockingham because maybe they've been there once and had terrible weather, and since the date is still the same, they just figure the weather will be the same. I bet that if Nascar moved the date to sometime when Rockingham has better weather the stands would fill up more. But when has Nascar ever done anything that makes sense like that?

I think weather has little to do with it (or not as much as most people think). There's aways the risk of rain or other bad weather at any track. Heck, there's always the threat of a rain out for Daytona, but that doesn't keep nearly 200,000 poeple from taking that risk.

Every race I've attened has had some sort of weather that could cause a problem. Heck, I went to Phoenix last year and not only did it rain (delaying the Busch race) but it was COLD!!! But I'm going back there again this year.

There's really not much of an excuse for not filling such a small (relative to most tracks) amount of seating. I think it's location that is the main culprit. Most people that travel to the race go there for a long weekend of fun, but when there isn't much to do outside of the race facilities...why go? I think that they should try at least once more by moving the date, as others have suggested and if that doesn't work...then bye bye Rock.

If they end up yanking the date away and giving it to Texas, well I won't feel to bad about it. Not only because it's the closest track to me, but because I know that at least here, the fans will show up in force and support this great sport.
