And we can not forget the important historical parts.
like the following:

Mercury Space Program
Gemini Space program
Apollo Space Program including the Apollo 11 Moon Mission

Watching Dan Rather and company reporting news directly from Vietnam. The Tet offensive and all the other crap associated with war.

The Olympic Games in munich, Germany where the Palistinian terrorist killed members of the Isreali Olympic team.

and on a much smaller scale, yours truly started elementary school. Remember back then that is what we called it. NOT grade school.
I also started junior high in the sixties.

Girls only allowed to wear dresses to school. My first pair of Beetle Boots with horseshoes tacked on the hills.Getting our first color tv.:D

hippies, physcodalic colours, muscle cars, flower power and Bob Dylan:rainfro: :heehee:

I was a senior in high school when Kennedy was killed. First heard the news at lunch, and laughed it off.

Next class period it was announced officially. The entire school was dead silent --- and stayed that way until final bell.

Married in 1967 --- graduated from college in 1969. Hubby went to Viet Nam in November of 1968, returned October, 1969.

Neil Armstrong and first moon landing. Nobody seems to remember the wild and crazy 60,s but that was during the drug craze LOL

I came in on the tail end of the 60's, and have only three vivid memories.

Sitting at Kingsport Speedway, with cotton my mother stuffed into my ears, watching L.D. Ottinger win a race. That's the earliest memory I have.

Again at Kingsport Speedway a different night, going into the pits with my dad after the race and meeting some guy named Tiny Lund. Tiny was killed not long after in a Winston Cup race.

I also clearly remember the news breaking about the Manson killings. The newscaster looked so shocked. Of course, no one knew then that it was the Manson Family, they were referred to as the Sharon Tate murders. But I recall that newscast plain as day.

Yeah....Manson....I remember that...we were on vacation
in the Sierras when that news broke...

Also, I was sitting with my family in Anaheim Stadium
watching an Angels game when they landed on the moon...
I remember that afternoon gathering in my neighbor's
garage....he pulled out his huge color TV and set it
up in the garage for everyone to watch them walk on
the moon....yes, I said COLOR TV !!!

Jim Morrison and the Doors....

Haight-Ashbury, Altamont, and Woodstock...

Simon and Garfunkel, 'The Graduate', 'MASH' (the movie...
my folks took us kids to a drive-in to see that...yes,
I said a DRIVE -IN !!!)

Lot's of memories from the sixties for me....

They torn down the last drive-in in my area last year. It is now a Wal-mart. I have some great memories of that drive-in, but as this is a family place, I'll just keep it to myself.;)

OK, I was graduated from HS, went right to work at a department store, moved out soon after from my parents' home, and aunt and uncle contribuited, became a "pseudohippie...no druges, married in '66, first child in '68, still loved music of all genre:)

Just being a mom was so rewarding and still is

just thought of Marilyn Monroe's suicide........(alleged suicide) in 1962.........:(

The Israeli-Egyptian 7 day war. I was on a ship in the Mediterranian going in circles about 50 miles off the coast of Israel........every four hours hard left turn!:) Didn't really know what was going on, but I did know that we were on 4 hr notice for a beach landing if we were called on.:( We knew it was real since we had a whole flock of Russian ships shadowing us the whole time........which was about 30 days all told.:)
