This is no army, these are chechen "rebels". Their mission is to get the Soviet army out of Chechnya. Many of these rebels have trained at Al Queda camps, which in my mind makes them terrorists.
This is very sad, those people have been in there for a few days now and the terrorists have not allowed much food and water in.
The fact that a reporter used the phrase only demonstrates the lack of forethought many of them put into what they say. I think that they fail to realize that when they use certain words and phrases which stick in the mind of many and lead to basic misunderstandings of situations.
You will find that I often rant about the media. One of my pet peeves is their constant battle for freedom of the press without the equal battle to maintain the "responsibility " of the press. You just got caught in my crossfire!
I know the sniper incident should be covered more by the media because its something that happened in america and more people that see there show are intrested in it then other events. But when some channels ex. CNN repeat the same info over and over every 5 minutes and cant find time to talk about other incidents like this for a second just anoys me.
Paul Im not talking about covering it more Im talking about covering it all and not just this incident but plenty others. It would be diffrent if they had more news to report but watch cnn or msnbc all they did during the sniper events is keep repeating the same info over and over for sometimes days at a time not mentioning other things. I thought most people here were christions guess I was wrong.
Paul they didn't even mention other things going on in this country. Even so I have watched uk and russian news over the web because of this incident and they both had reports about the sniper being cought. Your right paul I was wrong for being mad at the media for that its the people everywhere for only careing about deaths in there own country. Im sure god just loves how his people are doing. Im gonna stop posting about this right now.
Media coverage in any place or time will go where the media moguls believe it will garner the most attention. For some this is cool, for others it sometimes leaves a void.
We can vetch about it, doesn't make right or wrong. The media, like all of us, has to make a living too.
Wonder how much differently the Russians are handling this situation than they would have say 25 years ago?
