Just got off the phone with Dwayne at MAR. Busy place. Dave was off running around town.

It's Tim in the 71 at The Rock with no RCR help and another homemade motor. Dwayne does not expect Parker to be able to put the 91 in the show, but agrees that Jack and Ron are the unknowns.

Next years Cup and Busch plans are to get there in the 71 first with the 81 staying part-time depending of course on sponsorship. Irons in the fire but nothing set in stone. Even Daytona is a don't know at this time but he sounded optimistic.

I hope the 71 can get a full-time sponsor. I've liked all the guys who they have tried to put in the car this year. It would be nice to see them get a sponsor and bring along a driver.

yes it would Dave is a great guy an di would love to see him get a full-time sponcer and driver for the car. WOuld it be possible for Dave to try the Daytona 500 again or is that out of the picture?

As a driver I doubt it. I think his future right now lays with Tim in the 71 and Dwayne in the 81 with a possible shot at Cup down the line for Dwayne..

Common bodies and standard body mounts are going to help the little guys a lot but there will be a bigger need for more horsepower. Dave and company might be able to massage a body without a windtunnel program, but without the bucks to get leased motors from RCR they will be at best a top 35 team and that's stretching it.

I know Dave has already put Dwayne in the Cup car a few years ago, but unfortunately never made the show. Sometimes he'd have Dwayne try to qualify the primary car, sometimes you'd see Dwayne in a back-up car with the #72 on it at Daytona.

i wonder with sr. gone now if rcr has any real ties with marcis. maybe we will see dei start to support the marcis teams a bit?

71Fan will undoubtedly correct me if I'm wrong here.

Dave's relationship with Richard Childress significantly predates the entry of Dale Earnhardt into the picture. I cannot imagine that Dale's passing will any impact the relationship.

DEI has never really been involved with Marcis racing. When they wanted to field a car for Kerry Earnhardt, they once provided Marcis racing with a car for Kerry to drive.

Unfortunately, the car was foriegn to Marcis racing, and they really didn't know how to adjust it and left it pretty much as it came. That made the car extremely loose for the race. A rookie in a loose race car usually means a wall is coming, as was the case with Kerry's Cup debut.

I can't think of any other time DEI helped out Marcis Racing. Didn't Petree racing used to help out Marcis racing sometimes?

I think Petree racing used to lend Marcis some motors, but again, it wasn't anything like how RCR has worked with Marcis racing.

Dave told Rich to get out of the car and hire Dale. Probably shoulda hired him himself:)

Even tho Dave and Dale didn't get off on the right foot because of the better car deal that first year at Daytona for Dale, Dave was one of the few guys that would rub the rookie for the heck of it, and I quote....."because I could".......After pushing the rookie around one race, Dale came over to Dave and told him he respected him for doing so. And that was the start of long-standing friendship.

As for Petree, the Busch cars used Petree machines. As for getting help, I imagine that once Dave is at the track he could knock on just about any garage door there to collect a favor owed, and even a few that aren't. Guess who's Winston Cup pit Ray Evernham got to sweep first.;)
