I've seen a Tsunami forcast issued earlier. See that place to the lower right of Australia......I live there.

The end of this video is pretty amazing. The boat climbs up the wave and there's basically no descent on the other side. Gives a real perspective of how much water and energy is behind a tsunami. On a more personal note, one of the main guys at Sendai airport that did ground handling there was killed in it. Just months before, I was having drinks with him in Seattle.
Crazy stuff.
