Only 29 driver/car combonations. That draw includes backup cars that teams might pull out and quailfy if the regular driver failes to make the race or if they decide to put another driver/car in the feild.

The 2 Penske guys are running 2 diffrent chassis for the 500 this year. Helio will stick with the Dallara, which he's run in all the races so far this year, and Gil will run the Panoz G Force

Arie Luyendyk wrecked in practice today and I think he is sitting out pole day and Alex barron I think is going to replace him for the time being.
So far 6 days into practice and there as only been 3 wrecks and 2 blown motors ( that i know of) which both happen to be chevy's

Tommorrow is Pole day BUT the sotrms that have played havoc in the plains is now on its way here and may postpone pole day at least untill later in the day. If the 6:00 gun goes off and they are still in the middle of the pole day qual runs, and has to continue on Sunday then all times that are ran on sunday are still able for the pole and front row. Then after every car has ran once then the front row will be set and if any time is left sunday 2nd round of quals will happen if any teams chooses so. My guess is most teams will take any qual run on Pole day since there is is not going to be many if any cars sent home.

OK its the second stabb at Pole day and seems it will go off without and problems but the 20mph wind!!! Thats going to cause alot of problem for the teams. On our Indy morning news a couple drivers Kannan and Buhl said the wind will blow the cars in turn 3 and could cause the backends go around.
