9-11-01 Where Were You

That is a truly great song and eerily so.

I was at work. A co-worker and the few customers that called in gave us updates throughout the morning. By noon, most of the calls stopped, so they sent most of us home.

Home, in a hospital bed in a cast from knees to nipples.

I figure this thread will probably be repeated in a few days. Somebody will want to start one that doesn't seem like it might be more about the song than the actual question.

I don't know if any of us will ever forget where we were though.

I was a student at Western Carolina University, I woke up to get ready for class and was checking out charlotte.com to get the latest news. I'll never forget seeing a very large picture of the WTC on fire.

We spent the rest of the day glued to the tv in almost total silence.

I kept asking myself "Why is this happening" all day long, 10 years later I've yet to find the answer to that question.

I'll never forget that day or where I was.

I was sitting at the kitchen table drinking my coffee and watching one of the news channels. I kept thinking "soon they are going to say this is a movie"...... but they never did. I sat in the den just glued to the TV all day.

I had just woken up, was sitting on the couch watching the morning news, and sipping my first coffee. I was living in Colorado Springs at the time, so we were two hours behind the east coast. I too thought that is was an add for a movie at first, until I was awake enough to realize it was all so real. I'll never forget that feeling, I'll never forget going to work later that day. I worked second shift at the time and we pretty much sat around all night and talked or went into the break room and watched the news. The next day was so eerie, no commeercial planes flying, the malls were closed, military jets flying around on patroll.....really a frightening time.

Had to post this commercial by Budweiser honoring the victims on that day. It's amazing is all I can say. Well done. Brings a tear to your eyes.

Got something in my frikken eye.

J Bruce Eagleson. A good friend. Got a promotion in Aug, his office was in the South Tower.

I as out of school that day so I had to go to the doctors. Then while standing in line at the CVS with my Grandma the person working the counter gets a phone call and says something about the Pentagon. I'm 10 so I'm not knowing much but my Grandma says something when we get in the car. I'll never forget when I walked in the house and saw what was on tv that day. I understand it all a little better now that I'm older. 10 Years Later I still Remember and pray for the families of the victims

In school. Some kids mentioned it but I thought it was some kind of joke. Then it was on the radio. Got home and turned on the TV (every single channel) and there it was. I woke up the next morning, thought I had a nightmare and turned on the TV and there it was.

Still seems like a ten year nightmare sometimes, but at least we got the son of a ***** responsible.

We know why it happened and what the motivation was, but that's for The Podium.

I had just left the race shop and was hauling a couple of engines back to RCR engine shop when the news came over the radio.

I can even remember what road I was on and the approximate intersection I was passing at the time.

Some things are just burned into your memory no matter how old you get.

I was at work when reports of the first tower getting hit were announced. I drove home and got my crappy little 12 inch black and white TV. My co-workers and I spent the rest of the day in the parking lot watching because that was the only place we could pick up a TV signal. We watched the second plane hit the second tower.

I was at work, still in the office when word came down about a plane hitting one of the towers. Scuttlebutt had it a small plane at first, then they thought it might have been a cargo plane. We didn't have any TVs there at the PO, so we had to rely on news from the radio. One of my co-workers is from NYC and looked at me and told me when the second tower went down. It wasn't until I finished work and got home that day before I witnessed anything on TV. It was very somber all day long.
