It may sound cliche but racing gets in your blood, the word addiction isn't strong enough to define.
A man can walk away but it is almost always impossible not to look back and not want more.
How much more difficult it has to be for Nadau, and Shane Hmeil to also have the loss of racing compounded by serious injury. I hope Nadau's daughters racing brings him some comfort. But losing the ability to race will probably be a life long scar, that will not heal.
Going to the track has to be lonely a personal hell, watching others have what was once yours. Everybody knows why you can't anymore and you do too, but the dreamer inside can't stop hoping, that part never dies. The mental torture booms in your head, but you can only try to smile, your kid(s) and people that love you deserve better, But the hurt while silent still remains.
Mark Donahue made an almost comical but true quote....
