I was reading the local news paper this morning when I saw a article about Donald Trumps plans to build a NASCAR track in the Meadowlands. The Sports Authority in the Meadowlands have set a deadline of Septmeber 17, 2002 on what they will do with the Meadowlands and all proposals must be in by then.
What does everyone think about have a new NASCAR track in New Jersey and also being so close to New York City? I think it will be great for the sport as long as the track is not anoter 1.5 mile cookie-cutter. Plus it will be a lot closer to get to for me than going to Pocono ar Dover.

i say make it a road course equiped with lights for night races.............

that would be sweet. a night road course race

or put lights on the cars and let them race the daytona roadcourse

I can only hope this will happen, but I seriously doubt it.

Plus, I can't imagine there being more traffic in this area. Certainly, we have way too many people here as it is. I'm sure someone will make a stink and shut this down.

Just as well, I suppose. The city just ain't ready for NASCAR. Never will be, I don't think. :headshake

a Boo Boo,
You just gotta cut loose of your small town roots and get outta there!!!! hehehe

I'd like to see a track at the Meadowlands. There's been talk for years about NJ getting a track and the Meadowlands seems the obvious choice. I think it would sell well also. You have to admit NA$CAR might see money to be made in them thar skyscrapers over yonder.

Yeah, I been wonderin that myself, booboo. How'd a nice girl like you end up in the City of Sin in the first place? Yer Camaro break down and leave you stranded? :p

Some where or other on here today pbunch mentioned this track and it kinds figures to be about a 20% chance of gettin built.

If it does they'll likely charge about 150 to get near the track and around a ten spot to look at it from I-95.

I was wondering if they have noise abatement issues in this area. Don't know if I can behind WC cars running with mufflers, it's bad enough we lost the big block sound years ago.:)

I was always of the opinion that you couldn't do much to New Jersey to make it worse -- environmentally or otherwise. But maybe that's just a little of my New York bias creeping out. We're known to hate Jersey, and vice versa. :)

TWF: Sadly, I was actually born and raised here. Never quite left, except for a brief stint upstate. (Not Attica. I'm not Beedie. :p )

And glad to hear I'm a nice girl!...
