Jason Blonde was the fastest of the fast Saturday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway as he established a new world record during the World’s Fastest Half-Mile Speed Trials.

Blonde, driving an Xtreme Sprint Series sprint car, clicked off a blistering lap of 144.871 mph in 13.245 seconds, shattering the previous track record of 138.442 mph in 13.860 seconds set by Sammy Swindell in June of 2000 at BMS during a World of Outlaws event.

I have to say that I found this to be one of the most boring post race exhibitions held @ Bristol. The only good thing was that it allowed for the crowd to thin out slowly enough so that my son & I easily caught a shuttle back to our campsite. I sure hope that they can come up with something better than this after next springs Nationwide event.

I was told the motorcycle rider wanted no part of getting fast enough to break that record, can't say that I blame him.

Why whats the difference from doing it at Daytona?

Turn radius.

Those guys were hoping all over the place through the turns. I was waiting to see one of them plow into the wall/fence.

About 3.027 mile of road. Trying to break a speed record on a motorcycle at Bristol is insane. Some nut job will attempt it one day and it's going to make Evel Knievel look stupid when he goes flopping all over the place like a rag doll.
