A place to complain

Maybe we can get a room on this forum for general NASCAR Rants were people can go and complain about drivers or NASCAR in general. Slick Nick took hell for a post that I do not believe was all that bad or out of line. What is the point of having a forum if we can not express our opinions. In the same thread I saw a negative referance to Harvick, yet no one admonished the poster. Leads me to believe people took more offense to whom the post was aimed at as to the posts content.

If we had a seperate room for Rants, Slick would have had a place to post his frustration and if all you want to read are the he wrecked 8 drivers but it was just good clean racing threads then you do not even need to enter the rant.

im for starting a room where we can go and rant about driver/teams/tracks that upset you, without the fear of being penalized for it.

i have noticed one thing though. everytime a driver is ripped on, there are a ton of that drivers fans crying foul. but when ever someone rips on nascar, everyone just jumps on the pile. i love it.

I know I was ripped a new a$$hole last night by some people on here, but I've got it all figured out...
If it was about anyone else, it wouldn't of been that big of a deal, but since it was about Dale Jr, they blew it all out of porportion. Junior fans can dish it, but they can't take it. They proved that in the other thread.

Call it what you want. You need a place to throw the trash. Otherwise, it will just litter up this room.

You opened the door. And some folks walked in. Does this statement ring a bell?
Bash me if you want

And, it wasn't what you said exactly that pushed the buttons of some folks, it was the tone you used to say it in.

Just curious, but why is it such a big deal when I single out Dale Jr, but it's not when others single out Robby Gordon?

Man, haven't you ever seen axle, robbyg and lappy get all bent out of shape man?

Or that Robby finds himself in the middle of a mess on a more consistent basis?

We all know there are about half a dozen guys who just seem to find their way into these controversies more often than the others. Robby is one of them.

yeah, i raise hell whenever someone starts in on Robby, I also think having a place to complain on this forum is a bad idea too. It will carry over into other things and will far outstrip the somewhat civility we manage to have on here even with the podium in effect.

I wouldn't rag on Jr or RobbyG after the day they had at Martinsville. I'm sure they feel bad enough.

My only complaint is I was told a long time ago, attack the post, don't bash the drivers or the posters and no foul lanuage. As u know JR. is my fav. and when sombody attacks him I'll give my opinion. Now I'm not sayin what JR. done yesterday was okey dokey but dam to be called a dumbass and a punk and whatever else u said was going a little to far.

A couple of our local racing forums did just that, put in a forum for griping or bitching. The problem is, the same thing went on there as went on in the other forums.

In the early days of online PC forums, before the internet, the bulletin boards were very similar to what we have here. But the difference is that instead of having different forums, it was more like just one forum with different subjects. When you started a new "thread", people would post under that thread for ever. There would be subjects like Dale Earnhart, or Bill Elliott and so on. Maybe one would be titled NASCAR or Busch Series or Winston Cup Series. The point is, people who didn't want to participate in a certain subject would just stay away from the subject. Yeah, you would have the normal trolls who would sneak into a thread that wanted to destroy, but most everyone would just ignore them and they would go away.

That's the moral here. If something get's your goat, ignore it and move along. Now and then you can throw in a barb or two, but when it comes back atcha, be ready.

A woodworking forum I am a member of has a feature whereby a person can select an 'Ignore this Poster'---and presto, that person's posts are no longer seen by the selector. It works very well and helps keep the peace---in an Off Topic forum that is very loosely moderated----pretty much anything except swearing and threats on a person's life is fair game.

I've been in forums that have the Ignore button as well. Problem is, esp. here, I can't think of 1 person I'd want to ignore. I don't have to agree with their posts. I don't have to read their posts. I certainly don't have to respond. People need to grow up and learn to accept that there will be a little criticism of drivers. Esp. when they are hitting everything in sight. Their last name, their position in the C4C, nor nothing else should exclude them from being criticized. All of this crying, whining and general bitching that someone is being unfair to their driver is hogwash. These drivers are public figures. They make good money. And, besides I be very few of them actually read what we post here. Some posters just need to change their attitude on this don't bash my driver attitude. Maybe the thread starter could put a disclaimer in their topic title to warn others. But, it does all come down to just grow up...

I agree with most of what you said BP. But criticism and calling a driver names is two complete differant things. You can criticize with out calling names.

I think a chat room for complaining is a good idea. My huband is a monitor on his board and it has really worked out for them. They get very hot, talking about Race, Religion and Politics.

I am against a place to complain. It will create enemies out of friends.

I think you may be right muggle not.

I just don't see how it would work. This board creats enough ill feelings without having a place designed to bitch being added.

Just my 2 cents

I have tried a complaining room before on other sites and have regretted ever opening the room. So i dont think i want to even try it here. We have been doing a great job at trying to keep it light here. there arent a whole lotta rules guys we are pretty loose compared to some other sites.

Oh yeah?!?! Step in this room right over here-------------->

Personally, I just don't respond to a bashing post, name calling, etc. I disagree with some, some are too sensative, some too outspoken in a negative way, but I have never put anyone on ignore on this forum (except for beedie a long time ago). I would like to say that there are great people on this forum, agree or not.

Cast my vote against a complaint room....Lord knows we have enough trouble pacif----er, 'getting along' with the red tide as it is.

I have to agree with sam. If folks have a complaint about something said, or the someone who said it, that's what we have mods for. We have a PM system here, and there is always the "report the post" button. I think those avenues are sufficient. So, basically, if folks watch what they say, or better yet HOW they say things, this should stay a smooth running forum.

Just my honest opinion. :)
