A prayer request, if you lean that way

My father-in-law is in ICU right now where he has been for several days now.

He is in end stage Emphysemia(sp?). They put him on a ventilator a few days ago because they said he wouldn't make it through the night without it. He had planned on not going that route, but kind of panicked when faced with the decision to not breath again. It is of course completely understandable. He basically couldn't get the co2 out of his system and it was poisoning his body. They have had him heavily sedated and medicated. And have been feeding him through a tube.

They are removing the tube as we speak at 10:50 or so am eastern time

They said he may live only a few hours or a few days without the ventilator. But he has already stated he doesn't want to live on machines. Please pray for his wife who is battling cancer herself and my wife who has been caring for her mom and dad for months. Thanks guys and girls, Chris
 
4x, having been down this road, I offer up my most heart-felt prayers for your father-in-law, and the whole family.

This is a trying time. May God keep all of you in His hands.

Sorry to not get an update out any sooner. But he is doing remarkably well at this point. They really didn't expect him to be able to breath when they removed him from the ventilator, but he did. In fact he was doing so well today they moved him out of ICU and into a regular room. That seems a little fast to me, but then what do I know?

I really do appreciate each and every one of you and your concerns and prayers. They mean a great deal to all of us. Chris
