Why was he allowed in the pits and on the box?

I never heard them say that he was banned from anything other than driving. I suppose he can be there just like you or I can only when he's there, he gets to sit on the box.

Helton explained this. First, parking a driver isn't something that can be appealed by the team, but a suspension is. NASCAR wanted him off the track until they could be sure he wouldn't do anything else. When you're parked, you are allowed to do everything you normally would except drive a race car.

FB's correct, at that time he was'nt Suspened* just "Parked" meaning he was not allowed to "Drive" he was not suspended from the event so he could do any of the normal things at the track.
Had to suck watching his ride going around the track laps down and uncompetitive.
*Thats not saying he won't be suspened by Tuesday afternoon

I think all of that is PR BS. IMO, Joe told him he can't hide in his trailer or fly home, because that's what everyone expects him to do. Joe Gibbs stood behind him, and Kyle stared out at the front stretch wearing dark sunglasses.

He sure looked close, and he wasn't pumping the team up. It reminded me of a kid sitting in the corner in 2nd grade. OK, it reminded ME of sitting in the corner in 2nd grade.

I don't for a second believe he asked to sit on the pit box. I know in that situation the last place I'd wanna be is on the pit box with everyone looking at me.

I think that depends on whether or not he can get any sponsorship for the 2012 season. It seem like M&M is ready to drop their sponsorship of Busch.

Don't kid yourself! If MARS leaves the 18, other sponsors will swoop in to fill the void! The 18 car gets more TV exposure that any other TWO cars on a given weekend, and as they say, any publicity is good publicity!

I believe that loop hole was closed to. Chad was sitting on a hill near one of the tracks during suspension and they found out and made a rule about it i think.

Yes, now there's no need to sit on a hill somewhere outside the track. He could easily sit @ home watching the Jimmie Johnson's Hot Pass channel on DirecTV with NASCAR's Hot Pass opened up on his laptop while texting the crew orders on his smart phone using his touch to talk app to communicate to Jimmie on the track.
