Well, 2/3 of it was great. LOL

Friday was the worst day. It was very warm and sunny --- just wonderful, but the wind was trying to take my clothes off! The huge grandstand was actually vibrating in the wind. 50 - 60 mph gusts were really shaking things up. Managed q'ing, but I'd had it. Watched IROC from the hotel.

Saturday --- drove straight in, hardly any slowdown at all on the freeway. Did my requisite shopping. The Busch race was interesting. It really got interesting when the camera caught the 41 car and the "it flew out the window" rollbar padding. The race director David Hoots immediately called the driver and CC to the hauler after the race. The 32 car was called for not having a side window --- the crew was livid and insisted the window was in place ---- NOT! One other car was missing a window, but it was in the car -- on the floor. ROTFL I didn't stay for the end --- just didn't want to see the banana do his thing.

Sunday --- the most amazing thing, drove straight in, again! We were parked by 10:30 and wondering what to do with ourselves until race time. Decided that a nap was in order.

A good clean race --- for the most part. The groove has really widened -- up to the wall as a matter of fact. Dale Jr. would run up there after his tires came in. Scared me every time --- I just know he was rubbing the wall he was so close. His and Truex's main complaint was "tight" -- "won't turn."
Truex had me in stitches during the red flag. Bono asked what he wanted to drink. Martin got some red energy drink --- came over the radio and said, "mmm, red PowerAde is yummy." The crew cracked up.
I really didn't know who to root for --- I was yelling for Tony, then for Kasey. Couldn't make up my mind.
Made it out and to a friend's house about 60 miles away in less than 2 hours.

Had a blast.

Magnethead and his dad were in my other 2 seats. His dad is a huge Kasey fan --- I am so happy he got to see Kasey win.

Thanks for the great seats TRL (less the poles, but didn't really hinder my imagery much except the S/F line). It was a good race, and you're right, no traffic. Granted we left here at 7:15 and were in the gates by noon (stayed at the raceday stage for most of the broadcast, and yes i made it on, according to the tape), in the track enterance by 8:30.

It's amazing how last year it was about a 2 or 2.5 groove track at best, and it was 5 grooves this race. Can't wait to see what happened with the indy cars (if cup cars can go 4 wide in the corner and 3 wide in the doglegs, imagine what them crazy IRL guys will do), see you there!

Great pics Magnet! Thanks for the commentary TRL, and maybe YOU should write your own column for the media, as you have a much more objective view than the "pros".

I was generally able to avoid the poles. The only one that was really in the way was at the SF line, but i might move over to where my dad was to fix that. Considering the cars are going 185, i got 5 poles in my view, and my camera has a 2" display, i got some dang good pics.
