Was it just me or did it seem like ABC/ESPN was pipin in crowd noise at the start of the race and during the restarts? I noticed the same thing last week. Anyone else notice it? It sounded very fake, like what CBS does with the bird noises during their golf coverage.

I didn't notice but it wouldn't surprise me.

btw, who was that guy that sang the Anthem.

The only thing that I noticed was the mickey-mouse garbled bs when they transmitted ALL of the spotters, open-miked, during the restarts.

Yes, I ask about it a couple of times today. I didn't watch last week.

The crowd was NOT very loud today, we sat on the start/finish line. If they had loud cheering, I'm betting it was piped in...

that was the question asked by everyone around us at the race...no one knew.

The Google said:
Toryn Green of the rock band Fuel will sing the national anthem before Sunday's race. ... Mike Ford of Joe Gibbs Racing's No. 11 team earned a US$20000 ...
Amazing what a Google search can do.

The only time I've heard the crowd come in through the mics are at the plate tracks when the whole field is in a wad coming off turn 4 or after the race when the cars are shut off.
