ABC Halts Coverage

I can't believe ABC stopped the coverage of the race with 34 laps to go. After three hours of watching the race, anyone without cable was out of luck. Why? So they could show American's Funniest Home Videos. It would not have happen if it was a football or baseball game.

I went to the ABC website to tell them how I felt about it and I got back an automated reponse that they get thousands of emails a day and can't review them all. So basically "We don't care what you think".

People needs to contact their local ABC affillate. That maybe the only way the network takes notice.

Yeah it was pretty crappy. I dvr the races and watch them at night, because I do things during the day. It really pissed me off. I'll be sending an email

I am one pissed off redneck. Normally, I'd excuse this because NBC had their issues here and there as well, but this **** has happened with "ESPN on ABC" one time too many.

I don't remember NBC cutting out of the end of the races like ABC does. I vividly remember them going commercial free 90 laps to the finish and moving postrace to CNBC but the only time NBC pre-empted actual race coverage and moved it over to a cable network was during the War in Afghanistan.

You would probably get a better response writing to NASCAR, afterall, it's NASCAR that has given ABC the contract.

Just another reason people are losing interest in NASCAR.

How do we contact NASCAR? I looked on nascar.com for a feedback link but I don't see one. The contact us link seems to be for problems with their online services like Trackpass.

come on... the ratings were up across the board this year.... until ESPN/ABC took over.

NASCAR.com is not NASCAR, they just have the rights through contract with NASCAR.
NASCAR.com is Turner Sports Interactive.

I said this before ABC and the ESPN networks only want sports if they can fit into a time slot. If they go there time limit its like pulling teeth, no one knows what to do cause they schuedual so much crap on there channels a day if one event goes over it screws everything up.

I missed the last part of the race so I didnt know they stopped covering the race. Yes, that is bad. No excuse in that especially for some overplayed show like funniest videos...

As it was explained to me by a TV person, ABC entertainment division had control over the 7:30 to 10:00PM time slot ---NOT the sports division. ABC Sports and NASCAR both knew that.

Had the two red flags not occurred, there would have been plenty of time to complete the race.

If that was the case it was pretty silly of them to start the race that late. I know there is a time difference but let them start earlier.

Hiedigate returns!!!

TRL if that's true and I don't doubt it is the next time Na$car sits down to negociate TV contacts there should be a clause stating the race is covered flag to flag with no time limit.

Contact ABC

and let them know how you feel. There's nothing Nascar can do until they sign new TV contracts and get an NFL like clause that does not allow their programming to be pre-empted.

Contact ABC

That was absolutely pathetic. If it had been 8:00 and a show that's watched was about to come on, I could understand it. But it was AFV. Unbelievable.

What? You got something against a cute little 5 year old whacking his father in the jewels for the umpteenth time?

They said they were pre-empting it for Extreme Makeover. I thought it was a special edition coming on an hour and a half early.

AFV. That show hasn't been funny since 1995 when Bob Saget was on it.

It wasn't too funny then. It was just different than other programming so people tuned in.

Me and my buddy were playing Rockband 2 and i went to check the race and could not find it. I even went to all the ESPN channles and got nothing. We thought the race was over and i kept telling him it was not because the lap by lap on nascar.com was still going. It does suck that ABC did that
