about S.I. track whining

Dude you don't have a clue what you're talking about because it sure isn't Fontana!

We've gone to most of the races held there and can be in Anaheim 45 min after rthe race is over. Please tell me WHICH gate do they only have 2 lanes of traffic exiting from? There are 4 different parking lots exiting in different directions. There's exits leaving that go to the I 10 and exits leaving that go to the I 15.
In the middle of a Metropolitan area? The site it sits on was a huge Kaiser aluminum mill and yards, looking over the backside of the grandstands you see a huge steel factory. Where the hell were you, it's in an on the western edge of a big industrial area with interstate #10 that runs from there east all the way to Florida on the southern side, and Interstate #15 on the western side that takes you to meet up with I #40. Traffic flows from different exits using different roads going to different entrances to the interstates which creates a pretty good flow, and none of this has even mentioned the Metro trains. Looking over the track towards the mountains what do you think all those trains are doing there, just a parking lot? There's 4 to 6 Metro trains that are chartered just for the race on raceday. They bring the people and stay there all day to take them home again after the race.

After reading your discription, I have a hard time even believing you were ever at Fontana, because you sure don't have a clue what it is like there.

Have you honestly ever been to NYC and the surrounding areas? I drove tractor trailer up & down the east coast in the 70's and 80's and grew up traveling the roads in question and even back then the highway system would not support such an event as is being planned for staton Island.

although to add on, we were in the supposed front stretch parking lot (still trying to figure out how you can park cars between the dragstrip and grandstands) and we asked the driveway attendant and she said that the driveway we were at was the only one there, and that it was a mess during races. My aunt used to live down the road from the track (could see the stands from her roof) and she couldnt leave her house after the race because the traffic blocked her driveway. We didnt go to the backstretch, they had it blocked off in yellow tape for some reason or another.

I used to live in Glen Avon, which is only about 5 miles from the old steel mill.
Fontana was just a smoky blob on the map. People that worked at the mill lived in little tract houses scattered around Fontana and Ontario, and Pomona.
We have been going to Fontana since it first opened. Saw Jeff Gordon win the inaugural race there. Got David Starr's autograph there. Among others.
Fontana is a big, sprawling facility!! Tons of parking and that infield must have room for over 500 motor homes. At least!!!! Garage area is gigantic!!!
Most often you cannot get access to the garage area, that would be in front of the road to the backstretch. Only motor homes are allowed to enter that infield via that road. And, of course, VIP's! LOL
There is no "metropolitan" area close to Fontana. Lots of truck companies and businesses. We have NEVER had a problem getting to nor from there any year on any day, Friday, Saturday, nor Sunday! Nice, fun, big place!
