No way to ever know how things will turn out or what might have been. But it a dern shame in way and we'll never know.

Sterling's injury dashed any hopes he had of capturing the championship this year. Granted his season was backsliding.

Given the points that McMurray and Bliss have accumulated substiting for Sterling the driver point toal for the car is now 4363.

That would be third, trailing Tony by 186 points.

I am sure Sterling feels that pain the most.Just a bad deal for that team for sure.

Sterling's got a few more years left and he's got the Great Ganassi behind him.

Sterling will bounce back next year. Probably win the 2003 championship.

I don't think Sterling would have had enough to get the points lead back, but he would have made it interesting. Is Sterling going to be returning next week, or are they going to let Jamie McMurray finish the ride out?

Last I heard rpm was the Docs told Sterling to continue to sit this season out. There was talk of an earlier return, but it doesn't appear to be in the cards.

Aside from Sterling's desire to be back in the drivers seat, I see no good reason for him to risk an early return.

He must be feeling better and is getting tired of sitting around and doing nothing. But his greater goal should be to rest up and give the championship another strong run next year. No sense getting yourself hurt again by getting in the car early.

Sterling was sliding since before the injury. It wouldn't surprise me if he wouldn't be this close if he were still in the car.
