AIRT #2 is almost ready to happen

I just need money for it!

Wish i could score freebies, but kinda hard to get any sponsors when it's not really something alot of people see.

use gallery navigation links at bottom.

Looks pretty good if you get some money for it.
The web page would be better if you shrunk down the pics so we don't have to scroll over to see the whole pic.

I really want to use fiberglass for some parts (electronics bay cover, bay doors) but don't know how and the formula shop doesnt have the stuff or people or time to train me.

Ideally I'd like to pull a little bit more in the way of sponsorship parts from BEST (http://ntbest.org) Robotics, but after taking as much as I did from them last year, I really doubt they'd be willing to give me any more stuff this year.

My agreement with them is this: They're a nonprofit agency. therefore, they give me old parts, I make them work, put their name on my robot, go to their events + take it out and around every once in a while. That way no money actually changes hands really.

However AIRT2 will be alot of stuff out of my pocket. The electronics and steering motors are over $200 alone, and superdroid likely wont sponsor me unless i do something like put an autonomous oopic system or something in it (although it never hurts to ask i guess).

I'm putting everything in double shear, putting down loc-tite, putting a normal nut on, then putting a lock nut as a jam nut to the first. I'll be amazed if something comes loose.

page has been updated.

Got a firend doing the solidworks for me.

Also, i added an option to change image size.

Looking at the pics on the Page 2 gallery, maybe its just me but I don't think the thing will roll too good with only half a wheel.

;)

Well, guess what.

I only need $600 or $800 dollars, and I can start building things. Just wish we had 220 in the garage for the welder.

25" Tall
40" long (outside edges of wheels)
14" x 32.5" chassis (34.5" long with lift gate)
20" wide (outside of wheels)

Simple cost report:

15x IGUS KARI-06 spherical joints ($77)
4 ft 2011-T3 0.75" solid Aluminum rod ($14.40)
4ft steel 1" square tube ($19.50)
3x steer motors ($120)
1x Bay Door Motor ($40)
8 ft 3" x 0.125" flat plate steel (~$40)
8 ft 1.5" x 0.125" flat plate steel ($25)
8 ft 1" x 0.125" flat plate steel (~$18)
1x Dual 10 Ampere 12VDC Regenerative Electronic Speed Control ($80)
15x 3/8-16 Hanger bolts ($7.50)

Total: $450 or so.

Thanks bucky....learned it the second semester of college, liked it, bought it, prolly spent 200 some odd hours in it total including school work.

Getting closer. I mocked things up last night/this morning. It's just a matter of having more money to buy a couple more things for the axles, and seeing if I can get my hands on an endmil or if I have to drill stuff out on the drill press.

Starting out halfway down page 13. I found the colorizor in the CAD software.
