I really want to use fiberglass for some parts (electronics bay cover, bay doors) but don't know how and the formula shop doesnt have the stuff or people or time to train me.
Ideally I'd like to pull a little bit more in the way of sponsorship parts from BEST (
http://ntbest.org) Robotics, but after taking as much as I did from them last year, I really doubt they'd be willing to give me any more stuff this year.
My agreement with them is this: They're a nonprofit agency. therefore, they give me old parts, I make them work, put their name on my robot, go to their events + take it out and around every once in a while. That way no money actually changes hands really.
However AIRT2 will be alot of stuff out of my pocket. The electronics and steering motors are over $200 alone, and superdroid likely wont sponsor me unless i do something like put an autonomous oopic system or something in it (although it never hurts to ask i guess).
I'm putting everything in double shear, putting down loc-tite, putting a normal nut on, then putting a lock nut as a jam nut to the first. I'll be amazed if something comes loose.
