Said, Almirola among 33 Nextel Open entrants
N.C. - There are 33 cars entered for the Nextel Open race Saturday night at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

The race winner and runner-up advance to the Nextel All-Star Challenge later that night.

Among the non-Nextel Cup regulars entered in the event are Boris Said in the No. 37 Front Row Motorsports Dodge and Aric Almirola in the No. 80 Joe Gibbs Racing Chevrolet.

There are 18 active drivers who are locked into the Nextel All-Star Challenge, which is open to 2006 and 2007 race winners (drivers and teams), previous Cup champions from the last 10 years and previous all-star winners from the last 10 years.

so IIRC, there should be a #44 toyota in the all star field?

and hopefully the 78 will get voted in.

I have been voting for Ward. Now Kenny put that on his car and he will probaly beat Ward. DRAT DRAT DRAT:p :p :p

Mag, just for my own info, why do you hope that Kenny Wallace is voted in? Other than having a microphone and a hysterical personality, what's he done that he deserves to be in the race? Here's a list of drivers that I think should be given a shot over him...

Active former Cup race winners not eligible (year of last win):
#36-Jeremy Mayfield (2005)
#99-Carl Edwards (2005)
#19-Elliott Sadler (2004)
#13-Joe Nemechek (2004)
Bill Elliott (2003, won event in 1986, Champ in 1988)
#55-Michael Waltrip (2003, won event in 1996)
#7-Robby Gordon (2003)
#14-Sterling Marlin (2002)
#26-Jamie McMurray (2002)
#88-Ricky Rudd (2002)
#4-Ward Burton (2002)
#46-Johnny Benson (2002)
#45-Kyle Petty (1995)
#89-Morgan Shepherd (1993)
#21-Ken Schrader (1991)
#74-Derrike Cope (1990)

Notice Morgan Shepherd has won a Cup race and still attempts to make a race now and then. How about Kenny Schrader? Ward? Ricky? Robby? Hell, even Michael Waltrip has won the even in the past, but since it was more than 10 years ago, it puts him out of the equation. Tell me please why Kenny Wallace deserves a shot in this race over Carl Edwards? I'm dying to know the reason.

Kenny should join his brother, not Mike, and the former champion Waltrip, and step aside. Kenny is good for the sport, but as a driver, he's such a so so driver that he's never been able to get himself, or in the words of DW and Larry Mac, "hisself" a decent ride after he lost his first shot in the Cup series. Hey, with only a few wins in the Busch series, he doesn't have a very good resume anyway. Voting for Kenny only shows that you like the kid's personality.

Depending on qualifying and wrecks, my picks are for Edwards and Boyer to be the top 2 in the Open and get into the Challenge.
