Wow I didn't know that this many people on this forum abused drugs,Allen Bestwick better than BP??!! Bob Jenkins?!?!? Micheal Waltrip?!?!?! Either you people are high or it's a sign of the apocalypse!!!
Must be some of the "tongue in cheek" type comments referred to that are made by Mikey Waltrip. Someone doesn't agree with a poster and they abuse drugs or are high ????
Well, here is my opinion, and I don't use drugs. God knows, I have to argue with myself every morning when I take two baby aspirin to help avoid a stroke.
One poster made thier point about the dislike of Bestwick.
By comparison to others, Bestwick is knowledgeable, does know the sport and is interesting. Alan's voice and need to stay well groomed might aggravate some, but as a announcer for NASCAR racing, Bestwick offers a better than average performance.
For all who think Dr. Punch was the cats nutz, lets take into consideration the fact he used his perch in the announcers booth as a promoter of Dale Earnhardt. If anyone ever abused the position to voice thier own personal opinion of any given driver, at one time, it was Dr. Punch. Even Ned Jarrett was not as vocal in praise about his own son and seemed to better understand the parameters of professionalism that accompany the position of an announcer and avoid partisanship.
Dr. Punch is a very good announcer. Jerry Punch became better after being tamed down 'round about 1990 or so by the executives at ESPN for his overzealous diatribe of his friendship and constant promotion of Earnhardt.
Wally has become a more accomplished announcer and Benny is from the old school of "speak no negatives about NASCAR". Darrell does become a bore. Tony, as an announcer and analyst, is better than most of the drivers who take a stab at the job.
Kenny Wallace, who like "Mikey" (how many men at Waltrip's age continue to walk through life with the name, "Mikey"? Sounds like his mother should be calling him for dinner. ) feels the need to be a wise-ass with every comment. All this time I thought that was Jersey thing. See above.
Me?? I like Bestwick, Parsons, Dallenbach, Baker, and Dave Despain. Of course, after an hour with Despain, I feel like I need a tranquillizer to calm down. They all have faults and plusses.
Katie Hass, Haus, or however her name is spelled. Wasn't she the girl who assisted as a side reporter at the races when they were broadcast on TNN along with a half-hour show during the week? If this was one and the same, she was removed because there were so many complaints and letters to the network about her as an announcer. I might have her mixed up with someone else.
At at my age, it is a right to be confused now and again.
These are my opinions.
If you do not agree, that is perfectly acceptable.
The ability to enter into disagreement is what makes America the best country in the world to live in.
This is one of only a very few where you can make your own good fortune, voice your opinion without fear of the police coming after you and where religion is what you choose, not what the government wants you to beleive. So, go ahead, smash me, bash me, criticise my opinion, it makes no difference. At least I have the right to express it.
Those who read this now have the opportunity to take a turn to offer an opinion, but please, do not consider I use illegal substances or am high because I fail to agree with you. That is either a cheap shot or a cop out that takes place when dissenting opinions cause a person to lose grip on a discussion.
