Allmendinger driving for Penske at Road America: AJ Allmendinger will drive a Nationwide Series car for Penske Racing next month at Road America. Travis Geisler, the team's competition director, told Motor Racing Network of Penske Racing's plans Friday morning. Allmendinger tested with the team earlier this week at Virginia International Raceway. The Johnsonville Sausage 200, the first of three road races on the 2013 schedule, is slated for Saturday, June 22. That's the day before the Sprint Cup Series race in Sonoma, Calif. Penske Racing has used its Cup Series drivers in the #22 Ford this season but with the distance between the two venues, it was decided that Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano would remain in California. That provides Allmendinger with this opportunity. He'll be a teammate to Sam Hornish Jr. Geisler isn't sure if Allmendinger will drive the #22 car in the two other road races this season, at Watkins Glen International and the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in August.

Not only is it good that the Dinger gets a chance, it also eliminates Wrecking Noob from being in that car!

Speaking of sausage, I should get my fill today because I just finished pulling a few brauts off the grill. Brauts and potato chips for the Nationwide race. And we will probably also be grilling brauts and burgers at the sprint car race tonight.:D

Don't know if anybody here is watching the IndyCar Grand Prix of Detroit, but it's on right now and Allmendinger is in his final scheduled IndyCar race with Penske and he just got punted into the wall on the first lap by somebody else. :(

I'm recording it right now and will watch it as soon as the Natiowide race is over. Then Nhra qualifying. Then it will be time to leave for the sprint car race tonight.

I won't say anything about it outside of the thread for it in the other section as not to spoil the surprise then. Just wanted to give a Dinger update for all his NASCAR fans.

Wow, that was a punt.;)

Correction from earlier, this weekend is an IndyCar doubleheader event (two full length races, same track, same weekend), and Allmendinger is scheduled to run both races for Penske, which will be his last IndyCar races. He wrecked today in the first one, but can come back tomorrow, so one more scheduled run for Dinger in the open wheelers. I blame the TV announcers for repeatedly saying today is Dinger's last race when he'll be back tomorrow.
