Ambrose may run for Robby at Dover: Marcos Ambrose gets a do-over. One of the feel-good stories of this year happened when Robby Gordon provided a Nextel Cup car for Australia's Ambrose at Watkins Glen, a week after an on-track confrontation cost both of them a victory in the Busch race in Montreal. The only problem was, qualifying was rained out and Ambrose never got an opportunity. Gordon says he's going to enter Ambrose in one of his Ford Fusions for Dover. (Sports Illustrated)

Oh dear, my Aussie friend will be all over himself if it does indeed rain again. But Dirk doesn't think that Ambrose is quite ready yet, but not all that far from it. I wish I could get him to join the fray here in R/F, but he's so busy with his other interests that I really don't think he has the time. It's only been this year that he's even been able to watch any NASCAR racing because before that, he didn't have the satelite TV that carried it. But remember, as I'm sure Chuck can attest, watching from down under requires one to either stay up late, get up very early, or record the race.

Me thinks the American fans are taking a liking to Marcos and he does seem to have the personality that welcomes him. Now if only he could have the racing ability of Juan Pablo, he'd be a perfect fit, but ... My friend tells me that Marcos had a very big reputation of being overly aggressive down under, so why not now? Can't answer that, but maybe it's because of the coaching he's receiving from the Wood brothers.

I live down under and he was certainly one of the best in the V8 supercar series

I'll bet you a trillion dollares he wants away from the Wood Bros.

There sun is setting
