American men sissies?

Some people do.......but it's politically correct to be "sensitive". Think a lot of people take that extremes. And we get young men who are so sensitive that they avoid anything that could be classified as "macho" for fear of being "unsensitive".

Yes, but I wouldn't restrict the sissification to just men. We're all wimps these days. How many people need to really rough it to get through life? Even the poorest people in our country have running water, telephones, and remote controls. Most people alive today have never experienced war firsthand. We don't need to kill our own food anymore.

Throw in a little political correctness, and what hope do any of us have? :(

It's hard to say. While still teaching, I had male students that were so far over to the "macho" side of the scale, it wasn't funny. But I also had a scattering in the opposite direction completely.

Actually, I think a lot of young males are really confused about just how they are supposed to act. It's a Catch-22 for them. Girls seem to want them to act like "men", and yet be "sensitive". Whatever the hell that means.

In Alaska I think we see less of the political correctness that is emasculating the male population. But as I watch the national media I fear the handwriting is on the wall. We make everyone a downtrodden minority except the working white male majority. The only way to survive will be to become a minority as well.

Entitlements to all. Everyone has a cause to lobby for.

Legislation guaranteeing urinals in the wymen's bathroom is not far off.

So true, TRL. I think most people are confused today. Girls aren't sure if they are supposed to be the helpless female type or the "I-can-do-it-myself-thakyou-stand aside." type. Society moves at such a fast pace, people are stressed and up tight. I think poeple need to relax and just be themselves. It doesn't matter . Sensitive and macho are just labels. Perhaps Shakespere said it best, "This above all, to thine own self be true." Just my .02.

everybody raises there children a little diffrently everyone is a diffrent in some way no matter where you go or what gender or age you look at.

I think it mostly started years ago with the "gender neutral" stuff. It used be a mailman was someone who delivered mail.....male or female. Now it's a mail person or mail carrier or mail deliverer. A city councilman is now a city council person, a chairman is now a chair person, Congressman.......Congress person, etc, etc. When I was going to school the "man" when used in that context was both masculine and feminine. But, now we have to specifically spell it out so someone doesn't feel "left out". That permeates throughout our society to the point that everyone becomes so conscious of being "just like the rest of the people" that masculinity (and feminity) is now taboo. Don't be different from anyone else......you must be the same!! That "sissifies" the males and "masculinizes" (how's that for a 5 dollar word, TRL?:) ) the females. We are headed for a genderless society......all in the name of being politically correct.

Believe it or not, there are differences in the male and female genders in the human race.:)

Don't suggest that some people could be sissies. You know, some people could be offended.

:)

you know how some ladies are---there only boy so they baby them, i knew a guy so sensitive that he;d cry if you told him you didnt like his shirt

Exactly what Lappy said. You are who you hang around. Hang around a bunch of tough raggy football players who never go to the hospital even if their bleeding from head to toe then you will probably do the same thing. Hang around a bunch of nerds and their calculators who sream bloody murder if somebody messes up their hair, you will probably be like them.

Just the way kids grow up now a days

The question arises: How come kids today wind up having such influences actually have a bearing on how they become as adults? All you say is true........all those factors were there when I was growing up but, for the most part, my generation was able to avoid being "sissified". The main difference I remember was that masculine was for the males, feminine was for the females. But with all this "equality of the sexes", it is now against the "rules" to be different.......everyone is the same. An idea gone astray in my opinion.

Teach your children, and learn from them.If you look back kids today aren't much differant than kids of yesterday. We have a lot of media showing the bad eggs more than before. This may promote a few to follow that path, but if a child is shown love he will give it.Believe in there opinions, and disapline there errors with a true concern. ;)

Ours was before school. And you didn't leave until you had finished this long "I will not do this ever again ... blah ... blah ... blah" essay. It was bad because I had to write it sitting next to that punk.
