An old school flashback...

Does anyone remember the "old" Atlanta Motorspeedway?

I think I have Dale Sr's last race win there (before the change) on a video tape somewhere...

Well, anyway...

If someone was to come along and build a new track, and get NASCAR to give them a date...

what would you all think of an old school flash back come'n back for the enjoyment of the sport?

again, If someone built an exact replica of the old Atlanta Motorspeedway... the last of the true ovals (yeah, I know we still have the short track ovals, I'm talking about high speed banked ones)

Would you be in favor of it?

(attached below is the pic of the old Atlanta Motor Speedway for those who don't remember, or have never seen it.)

1.522 Miles around. when they made the new track, they used the old front stretch as the back stretch of the current track, and made the old backstretch in the current dogleg they have now.

Atlanta was the first NASCAR track I saw at race at in 1975. We went there several times when I was young despite living close to Bristol. I loved it. Since the change in Homestead, I think it's close to the "old" Atlanta.

I would love to see atlanta lose a race & Rockingham get it. :pbjtime:

Why Atlanta? Even though they made it a cookie cutter track, the racing is better there than at Charlotte or Texas.

I loved the old atlanta, went there several times
i was a guest of Bill Elloitt and in his pits the day that Mike Rich his rear tied changer got killed
