The state of Illinois and the City of Chicago are in dire financial straits...So they continue to spend foolishly...Currently there are 43,000 outstanding warrents for fugiitves. So they send out letters to 10,000 of these fugitives for a free flat screen tv, x-box, and various other A/V equip. All they have to do is show up at a certain time and place to collect. loooool...The sting operation made a Grand Total of 100 arrests...looool...Thats less than 1%...And to top it off the top county cop is having press conferances to bragg about the results...I wonder when some media person is going to post/print what this operation cost the taxpayers.....:sarcasm:

10,000 * 43 cents per letter = $4300

$4300 / 100 = $43 per fugitive.

It's not a new sting, so they probably knew what it was and not to answer it. The other 100 said "Hey i can make drug money on it!"

I don't get it.

What else are they supposed to do? Politely ask them to turn themselves in?

I don't get it either. Are they just supposed to drop the whole thing? Not spend any money at all to try and just throw the warrants away? It's not like they actually went out and bought the TVs and things, they spent a few bucks and actually made a few arrests.

Soooo... they have the mailing address of the fugitives, right? Why not send a few cops instead of a letter?

How many cops over how many days would be needed to do that. That sting op probably took only a dozen officers at most and one day to catch 100. Plus, why the hell would you choose to go to the fugitives own home (where he would have the upper hand if he chose to fight), rather than trick the dumb ones to come pick up a free TV? This sting op was safer, and much less time consuming.

thats what I was thinking.

UPDATE.....More than half of the 100ish fugitives that were dumb enough to respond and got caught, have gotten an I-B0ND and are back on the street waiting for their next court date to come and go..........lol

Actually cops in most cities go to fugitive's homes every single day. Why? Hmmmm... let me think about that one... oh yeah! Because it is their job. :D I'm not against the sting operation but guess what... cops get paid the same if they are giving someone a speeding ticket or arresting a criminal. I'd rather see them arresting criminals.
