Andretti Autosports and NASCAR

doesn't sound very smart to me in this economy. dodge doesn't want kurt busch and ryan newman looks secure at shr. i just don't see it.

Ryan was told he is free to look around

Ouch!

Is Patrick moving to a cup car with Stewart-Haas next year, do you know?

I guess the only safe driver these days is Jeff Gordon...lifetime contract.

Ryan Newman's contract is up @ SHR. With the military sponsorship looking like it may go away and currently no new sponsor on the horizon for Newman, who knows what may happen.

Don't forget ALL Military sponsorship contracts are set on a one year term it's normal for them to expire each year, nothing unusual there. I'm sure Army will be back.
Pretty sure Tony's putting things together to keep Ryan and have a Three car team next year.

Uh oh, posted that then went to look for an article I read about Tony wanting to resign Ryan and saw this:

Military sponsorships could go away..if: The sponsorships of #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. [National Guard] and #39-Ryan Newman [U.S. Army] (as well as the Air Force deal with #43-Aric Almirola) could be in jeopardy as military sponsorships of motorsports have come into question in the U.S. House of Representatives. The House Appropriations Committee approved an amendment Thursday to the 2013 defense appropriations bill that would prohibit funding of sponsorships of professional sports or sporting events. The amendment, passed by a voice vote and sponsored by Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) and Betty McCollum (D-Minn.), states that: "None of the funds made available in this act may be used to sponsor professional or semiprofessional motorsports, fishing, wrestling or other sports." The bill still needs to be passed by the House and then the provision would have to make it through any negotiations with leaders from the Senate and its defense appropriations bill. Last year, McCollum introduced an amendment banning motorsports sponsorships on the House floor and it was voted down 281-148.(Sporting News)(5-18-2012)

So both sides agree? Well, now, this should get interesting when people try to figure out where to assign the blame.

Then again, shouldn't be a problem..it's always the other guy ;)

Very interesting...

Silly Season starts earlier every year, it seems!

A Republican amendment in a Republican House of Representatives to end military NASCAR sponsorship on the same week Conservative media tried to say Obama was wrecking NASCAR...........now THAT'S F'ING HILARIOUS :XXROFL::XXROFL::XXROFL:

Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) and Betty McCollum (D-Minn.) If you know anyone who lives in Ga. or Minn. let them know about this......there any NASCAR fans in Minn? AAAA?

For Newman, I'd be a little worried. Sponsorships are hard to come by these days and it looks like these government sponsorships are gonna be wiped out. Maybe Bass Pro Shops will switch to Newman. I don't know, it'd be a shame to see Ryan get the ax and Danica full time. There's not much open out there.
