Benevolent One
Team Owner
It was reported, a couple of weeks ago maybe, that Andrew Bynum said that he chose the Cleveland Cavaliers over a couple of other teams. The other teams I heard mentioned were Atlanta and Dallas, I believe. Reportedly, the framework of the deal was agreed to at the time, but they have been working out other details that delayed the press conference to introduce him until today. Of course, he said all the right things at the press conference. He said he really wanted to play with Kyrie Irving and for coach Mike Brown and was excited about the young nucleus of the team.
I like the contract terms. 2 years and $24 million with only $6 million guaranteed in the first year and the second year being a team option. If he is healthy, that is an absolute steal. If his knees continue to bother him and keep him from contributing, it only costs the Cavs $6 million for the gamble. I have no idea if he will be healthy enough to contribute in any meaningful way, but I am pretty excited to find out.
The Cavs made some pretty nice moves this off-season. Jarrett Jack should be a really nice free agent addition as well as a few others free agents they picked up. I am fairly excited about the draft picks they added as well. #1 overall Anthony Bennett should bring some physicality and scoring and the Russian kid they took #19 overall, Karasev, is supposed to be an absolute lights out shooter. Anderson Varajeo(sp?) should be back and that is always a good thing until he gets injured again.
I'm a basketball junkie and I will watch the Cavs most of the time no matter how bad they are. They were really bad last year, but I still watched just about every game. But, this should be much more interesting this year.
