small clip on jayskis said andrews left the #1 team.......hmmmm...don't know what to think about this one...Him and steve seemed like pretty good friends....

Quit before you're fired I guess. It seems to be pretty common practice to be placing the blame on everyone but Park for his misfortunes, maybe Andrews saw something coming.

Too bad, he's championship crew chief too...

i'm sure someone will sign andrews pretty quick......wonder if Bill davis will call him since he has worked with Kenny before?

Has he won one before Paul? I think I remember hearing this...

I think Andrews is a top notch Crew Chief and DEI is foolish to let him go. I have never heard any speculation that associated Andrews with Park's problems and it was testament to Paul's leadership that Dale Jr. chose to use some of Park's crew members for the race at Darlington. I hope that he gets a great opportunity with a top 5 team, he was never able to show his full potential with DEI. Dale Sr was a smart man to get him while the getting was good it's too bad he isnt around now to keep him from leaving.

Seems Paul Andrews has a new job already...crew chief for Jeff Burton. Main story over at nascar.com. First it was driver silly season, and now the crew chiefs are getting in on the action...

Forgot this in my other post

Welcome to the forum, DJFan! :)

Thanks folks! Well Roush does not have a driver in the top 5 but I think I would classify them as a top 5 team, so I am really glad for Paul. So long as Burton dont start beating up on my driver I am happy!

Welcome DJFan.....

I guess the DJ doesn't stand for Dale,Jr huh? ;)

I hope Andrews does a good job....I guess Roush got a little payback from when Hmiel left R.R and went to DEI......

Actually Dale Jr is one of my favorites. I have been a Jarrett fan since Davey passed away, tho I hated Jarrett for beating Davey for his first win at MIS! I have several drivers that I root for on raceday, DJ, Jr., Kenseth, Benson (My Michigan roots), Johnson and anyone in the 71 car! I miss Dave!

Welcome new friend,But you better do your facts.Jack has had a car in the top 5 for most of the season,Oh that's right Martin don't count. :)

Yeah I realized after I typed that that I had mentally put Wallace in Martins spot in the top 5. Another one of them mental-slip that I have been pretty guilty of lately! :)
Good Catch!
Next one is a Knuckle ball...watch out :)

Just the facts friend.:D I may be a bit partial,I am a fan of Roush.:) Glad to have you new folks for sure though.:) Even the Gordon fans.:D

No doubt BudGirl,I look for the wife to tell me she has someone new to watch the race at our house next season.:( :p :p

hmmmm let's see......spend another year on a lame duck team or go run the 99????......seeya.....

and btw, Burton's former chief got bumped up (not out) at Roush

I look for Stoddard to run Kurts car next year.Maybe he will teach Busch the rain dance.:)

I was wondering what happend to Franky. Nice guy, glad he didn't get screwed. And congrats to Paul. He's one of the best and things just didn't work out with Steve. It happens all the time. Hopefully Steve will have better rapport with Paul's replacement.

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but Steve Hmiel and Dave Charpentier will be doing the CC duties until a permanent replacement can be found.

Smart move by Andrews to bail on the #1 team and hook up with a potential contender.

Well, let's be off to Richmond where Steve won just a year and half ago. He's got a top 5 to show for his efforts their also. This is a track that Steve knows his way around. This is a track where DEI has a total of 2 wins, 6 top tens, and 10 top 20's so it's not like DEI doesn't have the cars capable of finishing well.

So far this year Steve has 21 starts with 1 top ten and sits 38th in points. Last year it was 24 starts, 1 win, 5 top 5's, and 12 top tens. The year before 34, 1, 6, and 13. As a former open wheel modified driver, Steve knows the shorts and how to keep a car in line and out of trouble.

The question is.....Is Steve Park still capable of doing so? So far, the stats say no. At least with the crew chief change his fans will something to point to should Steve have a poor showing Saturday night and/or for the rest of the year.....imo, they are going to need it.
