DALLAS - A Child Protective Services employee was arrested Tuesday and charged with the sexual assault of a child.
Nicholas Santos, a 34-year-old Cedar Hill resident, was taken into custody and booked into the Dallas County jail.
CPS said it is conducting an internal investigation to determine if the allegations against Santos are true. Meanwhile, he has been suspended from his job as an investigator, the role he’s had since he joined the agency in 2006.
“There is no place in Child Protective Services for employees who betray the public’s trust, or who take advantage of young people we are supposed to protect,” said Marissa Gonzales, a CPS spokeswoman.
Neither CPS nor police would answer questions about the specifics of the case, including whether the child was under Santos' care. Public documents related to the case have been sealed.
Santos’s attorney could not be reached for comment.
