FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Manitowoc, WI -- August 1, 2007 -- Lakeside Foods, Inc. of Manitowoc, Wisconsin is initiating a voluntary recall of 15,000 cases of 14.5-ounce French Style Green Beans because some cans may have been under processed and some cans may have leaked. I've never been much of a gardener. When my dad retired he used to put in a huge garden. More to have something to do than anything else. There was always veggies for who ever wanted to pick them. Then my folks sold and moved to the beach so the garden is gone.

My grandfather always had a huge garden.. We always helped him pick all of the veg. I hated picking beans. I only assisted mom and pappaw with the canning, but Mom said she would help with instructions. It's been about 5 years since I have done any of this.
We also set, weeded, cut, hung, and graded tobacco.
I really miss my pappaw.

I'm considering starting up my own garden.

It just doesn't rain enough around here, and when it does - it's inches at a time.

I really think the Chinese are trying to kill us. This is deliberate and constant.

Andy, WHERE DO YOU LIVE?

The red clay, pine needles, boulders, etc. here aren't conducive to gardening. We had a garden when I lived in RI and grew peas, beans, corn, lettuce, onions, garlic, summer squash, zucchini, cukes, taters, peppers, maters, acorn squash, rhubarb, strawberrys and even had 2 apricot trees.
I used to make spaghetti sauce from scratch with garden veggies, can them and there was enough to last until the next year as well as gifting them.
NEVER had a problem with botulism.
