Are ppl really surprised that the nfl is full of thugs & criminals? Its just finally being reported more instead of being buried by the team as a "policy misconduct" punishment.

nope, been going on forever. I quit watching years ago, not fair to the good ones to turn a blind eye, but that has been the status quo. Probably half of every team needs to be in jail.

Some of these NFL players are childhood heros for young players everywhere. I wish they'd think about that first.
Don't know about your experience, but in my high school the biggest bullies were the jocks... and they usually got away with it because they could perform on the field.
Then in college they were coddled and rewarded for bringing money to their sports programs.
So is it any wonder that so many act like society's norms don't apply to them when they become adults, especially when they're showered with big money?
We've taught them to act that way. Ignoring the problem as they grew up just teaches them not to expect consequences.
Not saying that we don't need to clean up this mess now - we do. But an ounce of prevention...
