Elliott says he'll weigh options at end of '03 season

Winston Cup veteran Bill Elliott said he will evaluate his performance at the conclusion of next season to determine whether or how much longer he will continue to race in the series.
"My deal is I've got one more year on my contract with Ray (Evernham) with a two-year option. We'll run next year and see how I feel and then take it a year at a time," Elliott, 46, said.
"Right now, I feel good. I'm healthy. I'm doing what we need to be doing. As long as you can say that, that's another direction you need to go into. I'm just going to take it a year at a time after next year."
Elliott has had his most productive season since 1992, when he finished second in the series title race and won five races. Elliott has two wins this season and is seventh in points, 192 behind leader Mark Martin.

Hate to see this chapter of NASCAR history close, but it is inevitable. Bill ranks IMO as one of the greatest to ever buckle himself into a stock car. He has forgotten more about setting up a race car than most of today's drivers will ever know. One of the true good guys of the sport. We better enjoy him while we can.
