obviously NASCUR has a rule that controls the size and placement of the sponsors name and logo..why???
and is there a rule about using a normal speedometer like in my car...why??

I don't think there's a rule against speedometers. But other than when the car is on pit road, I don't know if the driver benefits from knowing how fast he is going. Regarding pit road, teams can easily calculate how many RPMs in a particular gear will result in a particular speed. A speedometer would just occupy dashboard space to display info that either isn't needed or can already be provided by the tach.

but the calculation seems to lead to some errors ...ask Hamlin. they must not be allowed . a lot of stuff used to help the driver in F1 and Indy car is not seen in Nascur.........A simple heads up display for MPH is about $50 so it can not be the cost....???

That is one thing that has drove me nuts over the years is no speedometers. And that is the same for most racing vehicles.
With the advent of the in car camera . that would be one number that the average fan would be able to relate with.
I know they are getting up to 200mph at a plate track, but to see it live on an in car camera would really drive the
point home, these drivers are crazy (lol)!

It's not the calculation that's wrong, it's Denny pushing the 5mph cushion too much.

but the question remains..... is it legal to use a speedometer and maybe some of the stuff used in F1 and Indy..

They should be able to see the RPM on their digital display but I can see why you may not want to look down too much on a crowded pit lane.

I forget how F1 does it but it’s still possible, and not infrequent, to get pit speeding violations in IndyCar so a speed limiter won’t cure all.

Speedometers require a gear in the transmission as well as a cable driven gauge. RPM gauges are simple electrical devises. In new cars today the entire dash is an electrical printed circuit and most speedometers run the same way as a PRM gauge.
In Nascar to add those things are just more ways to have things go wrong. For Denny it wouldn't matter what you use, he can't think fast enough to prevent speeding.

Sooo.......not matter what advantage modern technology offers to aid a driver, NASCUR would reject it.....

No car made today uses a cable driven speedometer.

A speedometer wouldn't be an aid. It doesn't provide any information the driver can't already get from the tach, just in a different form. Indeed, since the tach uses smaller units of measurement (RPM vs MPH), it's more accurate.

Regardless of how they get the info or how it's displayed, drivers are still going to push the limit and some of them are still going to exceed it.

Exactly.
