A Florida woman allegedly threw a three-month-old baby at a sheriff's deputy who was trying to stop her for questioning about suspected shoplifting.
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, Ashley Taylor Wright, 23, was suspected of hiding $261 worth of clothing from a Dillard's department store in a baby stroller and leaving the store.
When a deputy tried to stop her in the parking lot of the Santa Rosa Mall, Wright allegedly held the 14-pound child's infant carrier in front of her and said, "You will have to shoot through the baby to get to me."
A sheriff's office press release stated that Wright then threw the baby in the carrier at the deputy. The child was not injured.
Wright was arrested on charges of petty theft, child abuse without great bodily harm, and resisting an officer without violence, WALA reported.
