Another track bites the dust

Old Dominion Speedway officially announced their closure yesterday.

They're trying to build a new track in Thornburg, VA. Unfortunately, there are already idiots trying to stop it whining about noise, pollution and that it'll disrupt schools.

Waterford has been on thin ice the past few years, there was some talk last year that this was going to be the last year. Haven't seen anything saying that,,yet.
Seekonk will be gone as soon as the wife of the founder passes. IIRC there's 160 acres of prime real estate located on a busy highway and adjacent to RT 95. The grandkids have dollar signs in their eyes already.
Kids aren't into racing as I and many others were at their age. DAMM YOU XBOX!
People buy houses knowing the track is there, since 1946 btw, and then byitch about the noise.

You know, I have, out of the kindness of my heart, tried to answer their questions. They deleted my responses (which were all informational and civilized) and I've been blocked from posting there.

Their "facts" don't add up when compared side-by-side with the actual facts. Traffic is about the only actual legitimate gripe they have -- and even then.

Same with mine. In fact, if you look over their page, the only comment they've ever kept was one that had inappropriate, mean language it, so they can use it to show how "the typical race fan" acts.

They tried to shut down a track a local track near here about 15 years ago. Track was there well before the houses. The track won yet somehow the neighbourhoods survived.
