I'm pretty sure it was Andy Roddick just this year at 150mph. But I know Goran Ivanisovic hit some blistering serves a few years ago.

OK....NOT a modern day player and it was before many of us were even a twinkle in our mother's eye.

I don't know if Tilden's counts...I can't find if it was an exhibition
or part of a match.....plus, how could they have gotten it down
to a fraction of a mile per hour way back in 1931 ??

UNCASVILLE, Conn. - Andy Roddick hit a 150 mph (241.4 KmH) unreturnable serve in the fourth point of the eighth game of a 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Stefan Koubek that gave the United States a 2-0 lead over Austria after the first day of play in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas First Round at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
The previous record for fastest serve was shared by Roddick and Greg Rusedski at 149 mph (239.7 KmH).
