Anquan Boldin traded to San Francisco for a sixth round pick

No surprise here. They didn't have much of an option and had to take any offer they could get or they were just going to cut him. They had to make cap room and Boldin refused a pay cut.

.... and the rich keep getting ... you know.
With some players getting traded and released today, I expect a big day tomorrow of free agent signings.
Just heard of Carson Palmer and the AZ Cardinals in the same sentence earlier today. All's I got to say about that?
Let me just copy and paste something posted previously:

Um..............huh?

Nobody's really depending on the draft. Kansas has their QB. Jacksonville feels Blaine Gabbert is better than Geno Smith and Matt Barkley and they're probably right. There's some defensive players but nobody really looking that great.

Totally agree.
Lot's of people locally here are saying the same thing. We (Cards) should just be aware of that and rely on free agent signings, instead.
I get that.
But Carson Palmer? Give me Tebow, instead.

And thank goodness this free agent signing day happens on a Tuesday. If the NFL put this big day on a Sunday, then NASCAR would just have to show them who's boss.
Like when they made the NFL move their draft day from Sunday to the beginning of the weekend back in the 90's.

Browns are expected to beef up the pass rush by signing Lions DE Cliff Avril. Ravens LB Paul Kruger has also been high on the Browns list as well as CB's Antoine Cason, Greg Toler, and Keenan Lewis.

Browns are also looking into what James Harrison's asking price will be, but reportedly will be too much.

Others the Browns have spoken with are:
TE Jared Cook
Patriots Julian Edelman
TE Brandon Myers
CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

Cleveland, with the largest amount of cap space with $50 million, is looking to make a big splash in the free agency game and are pushing hard to get the first 5 names I mentioned.

You telling me the Browns couldn't have broken off a higher 6th round pick than the 49ers or even a 5th rounder and paid him $6 million for this year and have a year to work out an extensionwith him? The guy is still 32 years old and his game isn't really speed so getting older won't diminish his game it will make him even bigger and stronger and even better at adjusting to the ball in flight, which is what his game is.

As a 49ers fan I can say I am VERY happy about this deal....it is a steal more than a deal really tho lol

Eh, I'm OK with not getting Boldin. For him to be successful you have to have a pretty good QB, which I still am not sure about with Weeden. As you said, Boldin doesn't have the speed. He doesn't get seperation. Flacco was able to drop the ball perfectly to where Boldin could get it, but the defender couldn't. I'm not so sure Weeden has the accuracy to do that consistently. I look at Boldin starting to get to where Hines Ward was at the end of his career.
