Any good recipes for a roast?

I've tried cooking it in mushroom soup for 2 hours at 350 - that's actually pretty good.

I've also marinated it in soy sauce and garlic, then seared it and cooked it 90 minutes at 400 - not bad.

Just looking for something new but not too complicated. I'm a male after all, any more than 15 minutes in a kitchen and I'm ready to say 'heck with it' and order a pizza.

well with that mushroom soup, add a bag of that lipton dry onion soup mix, that is so good............makes a nice gravy like gravy...make some mashed potatoes and your all set..but it really is good that way...and if you have a crock pot, put it in there and let it cook all day...my hubby never complains, he loves it that way..
:) :)

if you have a crockpot, i have found that cutting up some carrots quartering some potatoes and a bit of fresh onion put right in with the roast and then cooked on low all day long is awesome.also if it is a pork roast, you might enjoy ading some saurkraut to it. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm;)

i have no idea but god knows my mom need to find a better recipe

I usually pick up a lean roast, add cut up potatoes, a whole onion sliced, a can of carrots/green beans and add the McCormick Roast seasoning. Put it all in the bag and cook two hours. For the gravy: add a little cornstarch to the juice, salt/pepper to taste. I usually pick up fresh rolls from the bakery. Of course, don't forget the fresh sweet tea to go with it.

I make this on the nights I work late and we use paper plates to help with the clean up. :) :) :)

Hey thanks a lot. Sounds like some good stuff here - and now you've made me hungry!

:chef:

Have you ever deep fried a turkey? I will try to find the recipe for a deep fried roast.

It is for prime rib. Inject it with your favorite flavor of marinade. (Cajun Injectors work great) Keep your oil at 350 degrees and cook 4 1/2 mins. per pound for med rare, 5 min.per pound for med.

Crock Pot is the way to go with a roast PLUS you must get the right kind of roast. My fave is the English Cut roast. Cook all day with potatoes, carrots and a can of French Onion soup. MMMMMMgood and the roast shreds apart with a spoon!

One of our favorites when I was growing up were hot roast beef sandwiches.

Just cook the roast in water until done. Cut up into smaller pieces then take a potato masher to it to shred. Layer on hamburger bun with french's mustard, cold slaw and hamburger dill pickles!

They are pretty messy and they really go good with BUD!

We loved them and I make them for my nephews when I keep them over nite.

Pbunch Pot Roast.
Take your chuck roast and brown it in a frying pan with a tad bit of butter.Brown both sides, the fat around the edge. Then take roast out let cool.Cut slits about 2 inches long about six times equally spaced.Stuff fresh garlic and celery salt into slits.Pour teraki sauce, and liquid smoke over top.Put roast in a roasting pan.Put 1 can of beer, and rest water till roast is covered up to sides.Cook at 300 for 4 hrs.The last 2 hours put red potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, and a sliced onion on top.Throw you a can of grands biscuits in the last 20 min. This recipe will make you smack your granny.Enjoy;)

You all are making me hungry! I make a round steak in the crockpot with a packet of onion soup mix and a can of cream of mushroom soup, and a little water. That's good. It's so tender, it falls apart real easy and you can mix it in with noodles and top mashed potatoes with it.

You can't go wrong with the crockpot roast. I've got a killer recipe for a crockpot roast that I'll have to look up and put on here. I usually put a couple of jalapeno peppers in mine to give it a little more flavor and a kick. I might just have to cook that thing this weekend. It's been a couple of months since I did so.

We may even fire up a go cart or two,Come on over,You take a left at long hard week RD.And turn right on have a good time ave.
You can't miss it.:D Have a great weekend yourself.

Crockpot Roast::chef:

3 lb. chuck roast (or whatever cut of roast you prefer)
1/2 cup of water
2 tsp of dry mustard
2 tsp of salt
2 tsp of pepper
2 tsp of garlic salt
2-3 jalapeno peppers
Carrots
Onions
Potatoes

Put the roast and spices in the crockpot and cook on high for two hours. Then add as many vegtables as you can stuff in the crockpot and cook on low for 6 hours. It's easy and delicious. I like to add some cayenne pepper or essence(Emril) to mine to spice it up some. If you don't like spicy food then I wouldn't suggest that. You can also substitute any type of pepper for the jalapenos if you don't prefer that type of pepper. I've also seen other vegtables used so you can really make it suit your tastes.

Sounds good BC.How long you gotta let that mustard dry on them 2 spoons though?:p I bet them peppers give that roast a kick in the rump.:D

pbunch, I dunno what that wife of yours thinks your worth but your worth at least a laugh a day with me.:lol2: :calpping:

Thanks BC,My wife says kinda the same thing, she just says,'YOU ARE AN IDIOT,And then she smiles.:)

Three jalapeno peppers couldn't hurt a fly! Only 2,500-5,000 Scoville Units of capsaicin (the stuff that makes peppers hot), compared to 200,000 to 300,000 Scoville Units in habanero peppers. Ever just chew on one of those things? My ex used to do that all the time. Might give you an indication of his personality...

He chewed on habanero peppers? What an idiot. I bet his insides are torn all to hell. Bet he gets indigestion a lot too. Ugh. There is a place around where I live that serves chicken wings made with a habanero sauce and we always dare people to go and try them. I ordered them once and needless to say I didn't finish the whole plate. After about five or six of them my mouth was burning so bad I had no desire to eat anything else.:headshake

Besides, I'm too sweet for anything that hot.;)

I remember one time I had eaten a hot pepper,And later that evening me ol Mrs Pbunch was doing a little love maintenece,And she got some of that hot stuff on her hot stuff.Wow she came flying out that room like a wild women.I said,I told you I was a hunka hunka burning love baby,She dumped a whole bucket of water on my head,And said, well let me put your flaming arse out killer. :p

That is a true story BC,I knew you would get a kick out of it.:D She thought a herd of fireants got in the bed.:p

When it was really just one big fireant eh? I guess she can't say that you haven't warmed up to her.

Nice story, pbunch! :D I'm happy to say that I've never experienced that particular kind of burning love.

You should have followed up with an Altoid, or one of those Ohio ice cubes. ;) :p

You are so right Abooja,That Budlight didn't cut it,She is better now,I am not allowed to eat that hot stuff like I use to,It gives me heartburn so bad the insurance company threaten to cancell my fire ins.:p I mean the peppers that is,I am still allowed to eat other things as long as I take it easy.:D

Here is my roast recipe:

8-10 potatoes
carrots (i cheat and buy a bag of baby carrots)
3 celery stalks
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 can Golden Mushroom Soup
1 pkg Onion Soup Mix
1 avg. size Rump Roast

I like to use a roasting pan. Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Peel and cut up potatoes, cut celery into 2" pieces. Rinse all of the vegetables and drain. Flour the roast on all sides and lightly brown in a small amount of veg. oil. Place in roasting pan, then surround with the vegetables. In a bowl, combine soups with water, it should be fairly thin (or runny). Salt and pepper soup to taste. Pour over roast and vegetables. Cook in oven for approx. 3-4 hours, or until you can peel pieces of the meat off with a fork. You shouldn't have to add any additional water, that is what the celery is for.
