I've been a Nascar fan for over 20 years but I need some info, I'm not sure where to look. I need to know when full seasons of the cup series races on tv were shown in their entirety started? I've found several channels on youtube that have full races and wanted to try to order them correctly.

Edit:

I think I found it on wiki lol. nevermind.. anyway, I love the history of Nascar. Youtube is a godsend!

I believe the answer would be in the mid. The 1980's. I know they showed partial races and edited tape of races in the late 60's and early 70's. Then the Daytona 500 was broadcast live. From there I,m not sure when all races were televised. The 1979 Daytona( the fight with Cale vs.Allisons) was seen live and had great ratings. This was credited for the boom in Nascar and its televised history.

1979 Daytona 500 or Firecracker 400 I think was the first televised event. The one where Cale and Bobby fought... then 10 years later the first full televised season was 1989... Im pretty sure anyway.

I found on wiki that the first race in full was 1971 greenville 200 but it wasn't live. I'm watching it now lol.

first Nascar race live is indeed the 1979 Daytona 500

I think we are both close, Mid 80's all races were televised just not sure whether they were live or not. I was 25 and single so my memory isn't exactly sharp.

You're probably right.. I was only 3 years old in 1989 lol so you would know better. I just remember hearing that somewhere.

I've been following NASCAR going on 30 years now, in that time the only tape delayed NASCAR races I remember were the Spring Martinsville races in the early 90s. That race always conflicted with the NFL Draft, so ESPN used to show the taped race on Monday Night. I think this went away around 1995 when the NFL moved the first round of the draft to Saturday. Also in the early 90s, my local ABC affiliate WSET-13 used to always bump the Spring Atlanta race to around midnight, as it conflicted with the ACC Basketball tournament. That was an affiliate decision though rather than a network one.
