Anybody else see this? Thoughts?

Scary thought. If Dodge was willing to pour a bunch of cash into their program, they wouldn't have had more than 1 organization carrying their banner and may not have lost Penske.

This is exactly the reason the odds of this dream deal happening is immeasurably small. The difference between 2001 and now is that Chrysler cared about NASCAR. Now it's 2012, and Fiat doesn't seem to, at least not very much. Roger Penske wasn't really on their radar, and he knew it. You said it. Why would they throw money at the Busch brothers in a last ditch effort to save the program if they wouldn't even give Roger Penske the commitment he wanted?

Like David Newton said , this is a realistic alternative to Dodge pulling out of Nascar racing. It is the first option that I have heard that makes any sense. I still believe that they are gone by Homestead.

I think it's nuts. I like the Busch bros but I don't see Dodge hitching their star to the Busch wagon.

RPM, Furniture Row, Ganassi.

I seem to remember RPM saying Dodge owed the millions. Anyone know anything about this?

Here's how I see it. Dodge's problems began with Dodge, not Fiat. They came back into the sport and were lucky to get Penske and RPM. Dodge seemed happy to just have a presence in NASCAR, and never seemed to go all out to add more teams. Now they've been slapped into action.

I said weeks ago that RPM (2013) and EGR (by 2014) will end up running Dodges, and Dodge will have a racing development program to fill gaps until things ike engine building get going with one of the teams. I'm sticking with that prediction.

Regardless of it's contextual plausibility, the article is interesting and opens up the discussion. I just don't know if Kyle would want this right now. If he had already won a Cup I think he might consider such a move.

Earnhardt-Ganassi will make the switch sooner or later, is my guess. Maybe sooner if Dodge can sweeten the deal. I personally would love to see it.

RPM? Big history there, but I think Ford will do whatever is needed to keep those guys on board.

Kyle and Kurt to Dodge might actually be a pretty slick marketing ploy for all involved when you think about it. Hell, I could even see it working.

Actually, when was the last time two brothers raced on the same team? Anyone know? The Flock's or someone? I can't recall to save my life...

THE NAME, THE LEGACY.....

It's like he has to ride off into the sunset in a DODGE?

Im sorry, but FUC* THAT

As mentioned in the article, the problem is engines. Whoever moves to Dodge is going to have to make their own, and none of the mentioned teams are able to do that.

Thanks to many who pointed out my inability to read correctly, I submit the following quote from DPK's post in the Robby Gordon thread:

Joey Arrington’s Race Engines Plus.

They build Dodge Engines for Robby Gordon...

It's extremely unlikely that a full time Dodge team is going to buy their engines there. Either Dodge has to open their own engine shop like Toyota, or the team that goes to Dodge will have to make their own.

I'm missing something here. Couldn't Arrington be like Yates , supplying Ford engines to several teams with factory support , or Earnhardt/Childress ?

Arrington has been in the business for a long time and has strong connections with Dodge over the years. They have the knowledge the experiance and the facilitys. Their already building Dodge engines for ARCA,USAC and the truck series, Why not?

He could be, but it took Yates years to get where he is. Arrington isn't going to attract the best and brightest people until he has success with his program. Perhaps Dodge could form a partnership and supply some talent to get him going. If Arrington comes up with a good business plan and salespitch, it could happen.

Just sayin , it could solve the engine building program in a hurry.Dodge could lend some factory engineers ,if needed.

Robby Gordon didn't do himself any favors today. Dodge was probably facepalming all day.
