Okay Lads and Lassies, what do ya think of this.

It is noted many posters are from the Triangle or Triad and there are some great local tracks in these areas.

Are any interested in getting together and meeting up at perhaps a specific race or track ? I do not like to trave lto far anymore and attending a NEXTEL NASCAR race holds little to zero interest for me. Done it too many times in fifty plus years and the luster is worn off. Besides, the crowds, drunks and disrespect by some fans, suck.

Last local tracks attended were South Boston, VA, Kittrell/Henderson, NC
and Grandview in Pennsylvania during a visit to our son and as a surprise, he took me to see racing on a great dirt track.

If anyone is interested, speak now of forever hold your peace. :)

We've been know to go to Kenly. It's been quite a while since we went to Orange CS. The Hispanics were starting to take over the place and there were some problems. I understand Wake is the same way.

Whiz, would love to meet up with you where ever. My problem is that the wife won't go unless our local mods race there. They have a big date with the northerners at Martinsville that we try to attend each year. Would love to attend a race at South Boston or anywhere in that area. I'm a big fan of the late models, but as mentioned, the wife prefers to go where the locals go. Ever think about Concord Motorsport Park? Each year in November, there is a North/South Shootout with the mods from up north vs. our local boys. Some big names from up north always come down and of course, those boys with their deep pockets always win, but it's a fun time. I'd be willing to travel by myself, but keep in mind that the US mail still is delivered on Saturdays, so that is a problem for me. :)

Okay, South Boston is a little over an hour from Wake Forest, Kenly about the same. Winston Salem and Bowman Gray two hours. Martinsville is two and a half hours.

A Craftsman Truck or modified race at Martinsville is a possibility as is the race at Concord.
As for the modifieds, it is always good to see the Yankees come through again, in all fairness, Buckaroo, the deep pockets theory doesn't cut it anymore. There are modified owners below the Mason - Dixon Line with pockets that are plenty deep.

My last modified race was held the Saturday before the innaugural NASCAR Winston Cup race at New Hampshire. Until that time, I had not been to a modified race in twenty years and was blown away by those cars. They draft, they switch, they wiggle and quite honestly, are more fun to watch than the NEXTEL NASCAR Series cars of today.

So.....................one of ya come up with a specific race (considering Buckaroo works Saturday, but until what time ??) and let's get something going !!!!!

You in Barelypure ?? You instigating old fart !!!!!
For those who have never seen it, there is a neat dirt track between Kittrel and Henderson. Went there and it reminded me of dirt racing fifty years ago. The entire scenario was a reminder of my yout.
Yes, that is the up-north Yankee version of the word, "youth".
Don't any of you remember the movie "My Cousin Vinnie"??

If there is interest, anyone who wants to be notified, just say the word. You need not be from either the Triangle or Triad areas. Hell, even Lappy could come if he had the money for gas to get him here. I reckon we could tolerate him for a day or two.;)

Will do some research as long as there is interest. :D

Sounds like something we could do. Come up with a time and place. I don't even mind driving.
