I've had quite a few, depends on the particular hotpass and the track. I've found that each one is different, check with the tracks ticket office.

BMS many times, however we were associate sponsor on a car at the time, enough access to stand on the hauler and watch pratice, also to stand behind the pit box during the race

It depends on the track. I had a hot pass (and a Canon DSLR) at the Martinsville Chase Race last year and had access to pretty much anywhere I wanted to go.

If it's a "Hot" Pass, then yes. Some tracks, you can only get cold passes unless your a PR rep, certain media type or someone important. Other tracks hand hot passes out like candy.

Some tracks that I've gotten mail from are selling what they are calling hot passes which are little more than pit road and infield passes with a hospitality pass thrown in, not real Hot Passes, and no I dont have a link.

One other thing these Hot/Cold passes depend on. There are tracks like Martinsville where everything's crammed in a half-mile infield so they don't have the garage areas a half mile away from the media center and the transporters parked elsewhere.

There are tracks like Charlotte and Michigan where you've got your media area, your garage area elsewhere, your motorhome lot, your hauler area and so on. It's pretty easy, at a superspeedway, to restrict access to certain areas.

I've had many hot passes for work. You can pretty much go anywhere except places you have to be invited to be in (hauler, motorcoach lot, etc) . You can even walk around in the garage as long as you're not in the way. I don't go often enough to require a hard card, but get hot passes when I have to go to the track.

BTW they are a lot harder to get nowadays.
