I think that value of that stove is somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 but I'll be more than happy to take it off your hand for $50. I'll even come pick it up so you don't have to ship it.

I really don't know what it would be worth but it looks really nice. eBay may be a place to start to see if you find anything similar. You can look through their completed listings to see what older stoves are going for. I'd also see if you could determine the manufacturer. That would probably direct you to a forum or two to do your research. Good luck.

I would love to have one in the shop. I have enough woods and falling limbs to last through a winters worth of projects or so I think.

I heated my first house with wood for 14 years, you would too if you had a poorly insulated house with electric heat and a ample supple of free wood. I know a little about them. I have since moved on to wood pellet stoves.
I would not use that stove for anything other than a decoration after a coat of shiny paint.

I've got two wood pellet stoves that I use to aid in our heating. Those things are awesome. We have an oil furnace as the primary source of heat. 20 years ago oil was cheap. I have a 1000 gal tank buried outside that is currently full. We keep our thermostat set around 65, just in case the pellet stove would go out. We have one pellet stove upstairs. It burns less than a bag a day. We use the one in the basement on the weekends when we spend time down in the man cave. Wood pellets are currently $219/ton. We burn about 2 ton a winter. When we use only oil, we go through about 450 gallons a winter. You don't have to be a mathematical genius to determine that wood pellets is the way to go.

First year 2002 in the house, my wife and I and 2 kids in late teens in school. $1800.00 natural gas bill for heat and hot water, then they got a 22% rate hike. Bought my stove in NH as there were none locally. Paid $1700 for a Quadra fire Sante Fe, $140 a ton in 2003. Stove almost paid for itself the first year! My gas bill now runs 40 buck +/- a month for hot water and the furnace rarely fires,
We go through about two tons also but we're keeping the house warmer when we babysit the twins so maybe get into a 3rd ton.

It's a great feeling when the gas company sends you a letter saying your meter is defective or something is happening because you're not using gas like you did. They don't come out and actually say you're stealing but the implication is there. Then the gas guy comes out and you show him the pellet stove and it breaks his little heart...:):):):):):):):):):):):)

We used to burn corn in the pellet stove. Higher BTU's but now more expensive than wood pellets. When we first bought the pellet stoves corn was far less expensive than the wood pellets.

you guys say the pellets come by the ton. Is it delivered in a truck in bulk or what? I have seen it in sacks around here, don't know much about it, just curious.

I actually found a couple of these for $500+

They were nicer than mine... but maybe mine's older and more valuable or something lol

It was going to be scrap.. got it for free but I can probably get at least a few hundred for it.

Put a ton, 50 40 pound bags still on the pallet in my Chevy half ton pick'em up truck and drive home. At first we didn't know one brand from another and, pardon the pun, got burned buying crappy pellets. Seems no one puts "buy these, they really SUKI" on the bag.

Some places deliver including HD and Lowes.

I buy the pallet of pellets as well. Like was mentioned, 50 40lb bags. A local feed store sells them for the cheapest price in my area. Occasionally I have seen a shortage of them in our area. When that happens the prices climb dramatically. I normally get mine in the off season and store them in my garage. As long as they are kept dry, they work well.
