The ARCA/REMAX drivers had a 5 hour open testing session at Charlotte last night under the lights in preparation for the 150 mile race to be run Thursday night. The race is scheduled for a 9 PM start but I find no TV coverage listed either live or delayed.

Ron Hornaday in the National Guard Driver Development Chevy was quickest, With Chad Blount posting the second quickest time.

Blount's fastest lap came prior to a crash with less than 30 minutes remaining in the five-hour session. Blount, who slammed the wall entering turn three and rode along the concrete through turn four, walked away uninjured.

Winston Cup driver Ryan Newman was on hand for the test session assisting Canal Winchester, Ohio rookie Chris Moore. Moore, who finished 3rd at Toledo Speedway earlier this year in his career-first start, tested in a Penske car out of Newman's stable. Chris posted the sixth fastest time of the evening.

NASCAR Winston Cup Series veteran and current ARCA RE/MAX Series car owner Ernie Irvan was also on hand assisting Cornelius, North Carolina driver Kevin Conway. Kevin was fourth fastest in Ernie’s Chevy.

Michael Vergers, the Dutch born driver of Ken Schrader’s Pontiac, was 5th fastest for the night.

Deborah Renshaw was on hand in preparation for her run on Thursday night and brushed the wall with the Bob Schacht owned Ford early in the session. The car was not seriously damaged and Ms Renshaw returned to post the ninth best time of the night.

Christ Passmore was also there though she is not entered in the race. Of the 20 cars testing Christi was only able to post the 19th best time.

Another practice session is scheduled for this morning will be followed by qualifying at 3:30 ET and final practice at 6:30 PM.

I just heard Eric Martin got into a accident and died during an arca practice session at CMS.

Yea, Renshaw was the one that hit him in the side and she was taken to the hospital too.

A terrible tragedy for both families.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Eric's family.

I will keep Deborah in my thoughts, also. How awful for her, too.

thoughts and prayers

i think every racing fan echos these sentiments
